Legend links the name to Milos, its first inhabitant who, after the tragic death of his close friend Adonis, in desperation took his own life by hanging himself from an apple tree. Aphrodite, the Goddess of love, moved, transformed Milos into the fruit of the tree to perpetuate his memory.

Milos is famous above all for the statue of Venus found by a farmer in his field, the perfect representation of feminine beauty. For those who love culture, the island offers unmissable Catabombe from the Christian period, the Roman Theater in Klima and an interesting archaeological museum in Plaka.
