Lesbos Island

Lesbos also known as Lesvos, is found in the North Eastern Aegean a short distance from the Turkish coast. Third in size of all the Greek Islands, it is still virgin land for tourism, few venture here perhaps because it is not so immediate to get there (consult our guide how to get to Lesbos), but the few who dare find a land still unexplored. Its origins are volcanic and have contributed to shaping a changing territory, high mountains such as the Leptimno massif known as Mount Olympus, expanses of olive trees, natural waterfalls and thermal springs.
Lesbos beaches are quiet and still uncontaminated perfect for a day of total relaxation and to recharge with vitamin D. The island gave birth to the poet Sappho famous for her poetry that became the archetype of female homosexual love and from which the term Sapphic was coined.
There are many things to do in Lesbos, do not miss its capital Mytilini with its magnificent castle of the Byzantine period on a hill covered with fragrant pine trees, or the mysterious Petrified Forest in Sigri, and also the medieval city of Molyvos or Skala Kallonis in a cove that divides the island in two. Finally do not miss Skala Sikaminias where the remains of the sanctuaries dedicated to Zeus, Hera, Dionysus and Apollo are located for a dive into the past.
Lesbos also offers visitors its local products famous throughout the world such as Ouzo the famous Greek liquor, produces an excellent olive oil and also a local wine of great respect. Stop to taste the traditional dishes in the taverns, a feast for your senses.
Do not miss the opportunity to visit this hidden gem.
