Lefkada, also known as Lefkos, which in Greek means “white” like its rocks, is located in the Ionian Sea between Corfu island and Kefalonia. Getting to Lefkada is very easy, as it is conveniently connected to mainland Greece by a bridge. Known as the “Emerald of the Ionian,” it offers a perfect blend of breathtaking nature and villages frozen in time.
The landscape features mountains reaching up to 1.200 meters, surrounded by gentle hills and fertile plains. On the eastern side, you’ll find calm beaches with stunning views, while the western part is dramatically wild, with hidden bays and awe-inspiring sunsets. Around Lefkada, there are numerous small satellite islands, all uninhabited except for Skorpios Island, the private residence of the Onassis family.
Things to do in Lefkada include incredible experiences, starting with a visit to its lively and cosmopolitan capital, or exploring Dragano or Athani villages, where time seems to stand still. You can also take a trip to the legendary Ithaca, or venture inland to discover lakes, gorges, caves, and monasteries camouflaged among the greenery, with scenic viewpoints perfect for taking the ideal photo.
Lefkada’s beaches have an exotic feel, with shores of white sand or pebbles and turquoise waters that contrast beautifully with the green Mediterranean scrub. Don’t miss Porto Katsiki or Kathisma for a day of total relaxation or water sports, or visit Egremni Beach, accessible only by sea.
Whether for a family vacation or a romantic getaway, Lefkada promises to deliver unique and unforgettable emotions!
