Lefkada Island also called Lefkada, is part of the Ionian Islands Archipelago together with Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Ithaca, and Paxos.
It is considered as the Caribbean of Greece so much that it is nicknamed “the emerald of the Ionian” for its marvelous waters with amazing colors and for its beaches of soft white sand so as to suggest an exotic place.
Lefkada is a mountainous island with a luxuriant vegetation of pines, cypresses, strawberry trees, oaks, plane trees and olive trees and offers its visitors a very particular flora and fauna. Lovers of walking and trekking will be able to make beautiful itineraries and enjoy a wonderful nature
Enchanted villages, white mountains, wild beaches and lots and lots of nature are why you choose to come on holiday to Lefkada. An area still intact with colors, flavors and a strong identity where you can spend days of tranquility and rest your mind and body. The hinterland has a charm of its own with a succession of gorges, springs, lakes, monasteries and caves. At the top you will find fantastic taverns with a panoramic view to leave you breathless as well as an excellent quality of food to try.
The eastern part is the most sheltered from the wind and not even Lefkada is spared from the Meltemi, while the western area being more beaten by the capricious Aeolus is a true paradise for kitesurfing and windsurfing lovers who gather every year to have fun in this spectacular sport.
Lefkada has a sad legend, in the past from the highest cliff that reaches up to seventy meters, disappointed lovers threw themselves like the poet Sappho who according to history committed suicide right here by jumping from the rocks into the sea. Previously there was a temple dedicated to the God Apollo, but today there is a beautiful lighthouse that looks towards the island of Ithaca and the Kefalonia island. According to mythology, however, it is considered the true homeland of Ulysses for which he passed the pains of hell to return.
