When you decide to come on vacation to Greece, keep in mind that having a means of transport to get around the islands or the mainland is essential!
Depending on your sense of adventure, your budget, and your need for comfort, you can choose from several options:
Car / Buggy
Scooter / Quad
Bicycle
Information for driving in Greece
Car/Buggy: Some rental companies require you to be at least 20 years old with a minimum of four years of driving experience to rent a car. Pay close attention to the rental conditions; don’t just be influenced by the price. Read carefully to understand what is covered and what is or isn’t included.
Scooter: Having a valid driving license is essential to drive a scooter. In Greece, the rules are different from the rest of Europe. First of all, you must have an AM license (up to 80 cc), an A1 or A2 license (up to 125 cc), or an A license (all engine capacities). Again, don’t just go for the lowest price; look for the best guarantees.
Quad: To drive a quad, a category B license is sufficient, and the criteria for finding a good deal are the same as for scooters. Keep in mind that a quad has limited steering, making it challenging to drive, so think carefully before renting one, considering the costs and especially because it can be tricky to handle.
Bicycle/Electric Scooters: If you’re sporty, a bike is an excellent option. However, you’ll need to be in good shape since cycling in 40-degree heat can be dangerous, so exercise maximum caution. You can choose from simple city bikes, electric bikes, fun mountain bikes, or racing bicycles. Electric scooters have also become very popular in recent years, but you need to be extremely careful because they can be quite dangerous if not used properly.
