TREKKING PROGRAM CROSSING THE ISLAND FROM APRIL TO THE END OF OCTOBER
1st day
Arrival in Karpathos and transfer to the hotel in Diafani and free day.
2nd day
Departure at 8.00/8.30 after breakfast, expected return at 4.00pm/5.00pm (depending on the itinerary). Transfer by car from Diafani to Lastos. Beginning of trekking from Lastos to Spoa. Latsos is the highest peak on the island of Karpatos about 1215 meters and with a beautiful mountain walk with a breathtaking view (if the sky is clear you can see most of the island) you get outside the village of Spoa where the transfer will wait for you to return to Diafani. Estimated travel time: 5, 5 hours.
3rd day
Departure at 8.00/8.30 after breakfast, expected return at 4.00pm/5.00pm (depending on the itinerary). Trekking from Diafani to Agios Kostantinos crossing a bed of a river immersed in the wild nature that offers its colors and its perfumes. In Agios Kostantinos an old church not to be missed. Then continue towards the village of Olympos and just outside the transfer will wait for you to return to Diafani, or for the more athletic, the chance to return to Diafani on foot. Journey time: 4 hours.
4th day
Departure at 8.00/8.30 after breakfast, expected return at 4.00pm/5.00pm (depending on the itinerary). Transfer by car to Spoa. Start walking towards the Olympos village among the verdant Karpathos passing through olive groves and native vegetation and admiring the wonderful Greek landscapes. Once in Olympos, the transfer will wait for you to return to Diafani. Travel time: 3 or 4 or 5.5 hours depends on what you want to do on arrival in the day.
5th day
Departure 10.00 am return scheduled 4.00 pm (depends on the itinerary). Excursion to Sharia uninhabited island. With a boat you arrive on the island where you will walk to cross it and get to the Palatia beach where there will be a lunch of bbq. Sharia Island was part of Karpathos until it was separated by natural erosion. In ancient times Sharia was one of the four cities of Karpathos. Everywhere historical traces with ancient monuments, ruins and settlements from the Neolithic age from the early Bronze Age. Sharia was also a base for Saracen pirates. According to mythology the island was created by the god Poseidon in a battle with the Titan Efialte who cut a piece from the side of Karpathos to bury it and destroy it. The ruins of the ancient city sank in the Strait of Tristomo located between Karpathos and Saria. The island is also an important habitat for various species of birds where marine organisms and animals reproduce. The northern part of Karpathos and the island of Sharia are Natura 2000 protected areas. Return by boat to Diafani.Cost of the excursion € 20 per person + 10 € if you want lunch, drinks not included. Distance: 8 km. Estimated island crossing time: 3. 5 hours.
6th day
Departure at 8.00/8.30 after breakfast, expected return at 4.00pm/5.00pm (depending on the itinerary). Transfer by car to Olympos. Ancient Vroukounta excursion from Avlona. Through a stone path built in ancient times one descends to Vroukounta, an area considered mystical where the ancient state of the city of Vrykous once stood with ruins dating back to 3500 years ago. It resumes its journey and climbs up to the Avlona village where those who wish can enjoy a delicious home-made lunch in the tavern in the area very famous on the island for the quality of its food. Return from Avlona to Diafani by car. Estimated travel time: 4/5 hours.
7th day
Departure at 8.00/8.30 after breakfast, expected return at 4.00pm/5.00pm (depending on the itinerary). From Diafani to Agia Katerini by sea with a boat, from Agia Katerini to Tristomo, a village now almost deserted where only one family lives that refuses to leave its birthplace and with a natural harbor located in a protected bay on the northwest coast with spectacular views. From Tristomo we return towards Diafani passing by the beach of Vananda bay which is located above the coast offering incomparable views. Estimated travel time: 4 hours.
