Santorini being a volcanic island, it is ideal for the cultivation of wine as the soil is particularly fertile thanks to the minerals contained in the soil.
In the southern part of the island, the most developed part of this activity, you can take a gastronomic tour to taste, for example, the white tomatoes and eggplant specialties to be enjoyed in the many taverns and sip a glass of native vines of centuries-old traditions that in the days ours have reached excellent quality levels.
The most famous Santorini wines are the dry white Santorini of Assyrtiko, Athiri and Aidani grapes, native vines, the white or red Vinsanto of late grapes and left to dehydrate in the sun for up to two weeks, used as wine of the Eucharist in the Orthodox Church , and the Nykteri white wine that as usual the collection of the grapes is done at night (hence the name Nikta which in Greek means night).
The wineries open from April to November to visit are the famous Santo Wine, where waves of tourists are now at home but it is still worth it, the Galavas winery in Megalochori, the Antoniu winery in Pyrgos, Argyros Canava and Sigalas.
Every glass of wine is accompanied by snacks based on products grown on the island.
A nice alternative to a day at the beach or why not maybe going back to the beach for an unusual aperitif.
I recommend you write it down in the things to do in Santorini, it will be a wonderful experience.
