In addition to a screaming sea, beaches with an almost magical flavor and atmosphere where you can bask in total idleness and achieve the perfect tan, a wide choice of fresh fish and typical dishes of local and ancient recipes, visits to sites of enormous importance historical, that’s what you usually expect from a holiday in Greece, but there is still a small detail missing that can make a difference…
Do we want to exclude among the wonders to be discovered in Hellenic land one of the gifts that Mother Nature offers us every day never the same as the other? We are talking about the sunset, one of the most evocative moments that manages to melt even the most icy hearts.
There are many people in addition to incurable romantics who after a day spent between one beach and another or discovering the island want to end in beauty with a moment of sublime ecstasy, in silence, contemplating only the horizon, getting lost in their own thoughts and as in all the Greek Islands, Milos also manages to give this wonderful show.
Milos, a quiet island compared to its sisters in the Cyclades Archipelago especially when compared to a Mykonos, a bit reserved where the nightlife is not so intrusive but which still offers leisure and entertainment in a more “mature” form if you allow us the term and everything has a refined and never excessive balance.
The places to admire the sunset on the Milos Island are different, not all of them have the same perspective but in their own way they are unique and unforgettable. Here we will give you some suggestions where to go in search of perhaps the perfect shot or the kiss that makes your heart beat faster, so map ready and mark the places!
Let’s start with Adamas the capital. Let’s say that it is not exactly the place to see the classic sunset since the sun always goes down in the west, here the clarity of the sky and the light that radiates on the town with a chromatic game is more evident, making it special and very pleasant. , perhaps sitting in a room by the sea with a good cocktail in hand.
On the other hand, in Tripiti in the northwestern part, the twilight is better than itself. In the small village the view and the show are guaranteed, sky and sea are tinged with warm colors making the surroundings almost fairytale. Tripiti is very prepared for this wonderful event in fact you can find restaurants and taverns facing the sun so as to make the moment romantic and special.
Plaka is in our opinion the place where you can find the perfect sunset! Maybe it will be the whole thing from the white ancient houses, from the colorful bougainvillea that frame windows and balconies, its labyrinthine alleys that take on a different flavor based on the sunlight and without a doubt the position, puts it on top of the most beautiful places where admire the sunset. If you want to enjoy it in comfort sitting at a good table, we recommend that you book because it is almost a challenge to find a free seat. There are many places that offer this sublime combination, from the most fashionable to the more “free-range”, the choice is yours. Obviously the higher you go, the more the total view improves, from the church of Korfiatissa and even better from the Kastro, the show is truly exciting.
From the Skinopi village, always on the west side in the northern part, passing through Klima by a slightly zigzagging road, you reach the beach where you can comfortably lie down or sit and get lost in the colors of the sunset that takes on an incredible charm. Second place for us! If we want to stay on the beach mode, we also recommend Plathiena further north than Skinopi where the white sand coast blends with the different colors of the sky and the sea giving life to a riot of colors worthy of a Monet painting.
We then arrive at the Klima village, another interesting point to admire the sunset. The village alone is worthwhile with its particular houses called “syrmata” with colorful doors used in the past as sheds for fishermen’s boats. Both from the town and from the nearby beach, the light turns on by changing the reflections, giving it an atmosphere of its own.
Do we want to exclude the Kimolos islet from the list? Of course not, she is also worth a visit and we are sure you will be fascinated. She is usually reached with a daily excursion from Pollonia, but she is worthy of an even longer stop, perhaps sleeping there a couple of nights and enjoying the splendid sunsets that she is able to give to her guests. The most suitable area is certainly the southwestern part, here you will be truly speechless.
Last and unmissable for various reasons is Sarakiniko beach. Here you can spend the whole day sunbathing and relaxing while waiting for the sunset. Sarakiniko is one of the beaches if you can call it that, in reality there is no sand or at least a small tongue, the rest are magnificent immaculate white rocks that in contrast with the blue of the sea draw an almost lunar landscape. It goes without saying that the set of colors at dusk is something amazing and strange.
So here is another alternative to the many opportunities to take advantage of during your holiday in Greece, certainly to be included in the list of things to do in Milos for a romantic moment to remember forever.
