The small Plakia beach, we find it in the south-eastern part of the Rhodes Island not far from the picturesque Pefkos village which is about a kilometer and a half away while the capital Rhodos Town can be reached after fifty five in a northerly direction.
The whole area is very popular as Pefkos is one of the most sought-after destinations for a holiday in Rhodes due to its proximity to the splendid town of Lindos and its wide and wonderful coastline which is a succession of beaches and coves where you can spend idle hours under the warm rays of the Hellenic sun. It is very developed from a tourist point of view and in fact the beach of Plakia is mostly resorts overlooking the sea.
An expanse of soft light sand with rocks on the sides that naturally divide other beaches, clean and crystalline waters, a sea that changes from blue to turquoise with seabeds that descend gently for the first ten meters from the shore, therefore perfect for families with children and for swimming lovers. For snorkelers who shouldn't forget to bring fins, snorkel and mask, they can have fun searching for marine flora and fauna in the rock formations.
It is equipped with about thirty umbrellas and sunbeds while for a quick snack or something cool to drink there is a kiosk that can give you what you need. If, on the other hand, you are also used to having lunch, just reach the nearby village of Pefkos where you can find several typical taverns serving fresh fish dishes and specialties of classic Greek and local cuisine.
For those who can't give up sport even on holiday, there are various activities to indulge in such as jet skis or catamarans. It is also possible to go camping nearby.
So head south-east following the coastal road which offers fantastic views and where you will meet villages to be discovered. Arrived at the village of Pefkos or also called Pefki which leads to another well-known place in Rhodes, the Lardos village, follow the road signs for Plakia beach and you will have arrived.
A free car park will be at your disposal to leave your vehicle. As always, our advice is to be independent by renting a car or a scooter even if 4 wheels are much more comfortable in Rhodes given its size and distances which are sometimes important based on where you decide to stay .
If on the other hand, you don't want to drive, there are public buses from the major seaside towns, but in this case you will have to plan your visit in the best possible way by consulting the timetables.
Instead, if you stay in the Pefki area, even with a nice walk of about fifteen minutes you can reach the beach.
An ideal place for a day of relaxation and tranquility even during the high season where you can spend a few hours dedicated to the sea and suntan.
