Paraga beach, also called Paranga, is found on the south coast of the Mykonos island about five kilometers from the capital, close to Paradise beach and Platis Gialos beach.
Truly Paraga beach is an excellent combination of two beaches separated by a promontory that offers a long coast of fine white sand, bathed by a beautiful sea that is always calm, clear, crystalline and with colors that go from blue to emerald. The seabed slopes gently making it so very suitable for families with children who can have fun safely while adults enjoy 100% an idle day at the beach in such natural beauty.
It is surrounded by trees that give shade on sunny summer days and by some rock formations on the left side that give life to small natural pools where you can relax and sunbathe and still wanting to go a little further off, become the ideal habitat for snorkelers and divers. No less important is the marvelous view towards Naxos, Paros and the mystical Delos especially at sunset when the sun disappearing behind the islands creates games of colors with a stunning scenography.
We advise you to take a walk through the paths that climb up the hill where the panorama will leave you breathless and with a ten-minute walk you can reach Paradise beach, with four more steps to reach the small Agia Anna beach and in a quarter of an hour to Platis Yalos beach.
The southern part of Paraga beach is much quieter and above all free, therefore, you can put your own beach towel everywhere but remember to bring everything you need if you want a DIY day or to take what you need in the supermarket nearby. A stretch of Paraga beach is also dedicated to lovers of naturists.
The northern part, on the other hand, is definitely the most animated, well equipped with a wide choice of restaurants, typical taverns, sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports such as surfing, jet ski and windsurfing or, to venture out with a nice scuba diving. On the coast we find beach bars including the one preferred by young people the Paraga Beach Hostel https://www.mycamp.gr/ which in addition to the accommodation offers a fun swimming pool where parties are organized (sunbed and umbrella cost € 10), and the Kalua https : //kalua.gr/ much more exclusive with higher prices but with a refined service (cost of two beds + umbrella starting from € 30 and up with mandatory consumption) and a restaurant with a kitchen for all palates.
The rock formation in the middle of the sea just after the shore is a destination much loved by the guys who have fun with those who can make the most beautiful dive. Parties and loud music from early afternoon until the first light of dawn are a constant and attraction that attracts young people from all over the world. If you want something more peaceful, it is better to arrive early in the morning when the nightlife people still sleep and delight in the tranquility of the beach.
If you have your own car or scooter, just follow the road signs, on the promontory there is a large parking lot that fills up very quickly here too, our advice is to go there early. Another alternative is with taxi boats that leave from Super Paradise Beach or with the bus from Mykonos Town every fifteen or twenty minutes. The road to get to Paraga beach is a bit steep, with many curves but very feasible and once you arrive, this little effort will certainly be rewarded by the beauty of the place.
Another destination to put on things to do in Mykonos, even if only for a half day, it would be a real shame to miss it.
