Palionisos beach also called Palionnisos beach, we find it in the north east part of the beautiful Kalymnos Island.
Also wedged in an enchanting fjord formation common in the island of Kalymnos given its nature is one of the favorite coasts especially by the locals and this already says a lot.
A beach of small stones bathed by extremely clean and crystalline waters, a sea from blue to emerald green with a seabed that descends slowly for the first meters from the shore, an idyllic place for a day at sea especially for the quality of the water that almost seems to call you as soon as you get there. Given its position, the sea is always calm even during the days when the Meltemi is strongly felt on the Greek Islands.
It is partly equipped, a few sunbeds and umbrellas nothing more ‘but as regards the restaurant, there are two Elias Tavern on the left and the Kalidonis Tavern on the right where you can sit comfortably and taste the delights of local cuisine or tradition Greek (we will never stop saying it in our opinion Kalymnos is the island where you can eat the best fish in the whole Dodecanese) with a respectable view of the bay. For DIY lovers, just choose the place, spread out the towel and enjoy the day. For some respite during the hottest hours, tamarisk trees frame the beach.
But let’s go back in time to give you an idea of when this cove is special and beautiful. Palionisos is also the name of the small village that has a few houses, a handful of taverns and in recent years the accommodation opportunities for those who decide for their holiday in Kalymnos to stay right here away from the confusion and immersed in a nature still almost intact.
The area of Palionissos, however, is not only known for its enchanting beach, as for the whole island of Kalymnos, it is a very popular area for hikers. The Sykati cave is famous for fans with a diameter of about 50-60 meters and a depth of 70 where you can literally see hanging the most ‘daring’ who, however, will be able to enjoy one of the most beautiful experiences of the whole holiday and an indescribable panorama with words. If you want, you can also reach it on foot, better if you are a little expert and especially better in the morning because with the high summer temperatures it becomes very demanding.
Northeast direction first of all. Take the road to Emporios a few kilometers after the Skalia villagge, turn right and descend towards the sea to reach the beach.
