Here we are at our first choice in terms of beaches in Kos, the legendary Magic Beach. Mythical for us because it was the first ever that we visited the first time we landed on this enchanting island that captivated our hearts and minds.
An oasis of relaxation and wild nature obviously not during the high season which becomes crowded and sometimes noisy depending on who arrives there, but which still maintains its own particular charm.
A long coastline of soft light sand bathed by a crystalline and limpid sea with colors that go from intense blue to turquoise, with a backdrop of large rocky slabs at the beginning (put on your shoes if you are not used to it) and then become soft sand and let yourself be lulled by the small waves seen and considered that almost always the waters are calm, a real magical paradise and the name was never again guessed.
Behind gentle dunes covered with typically Mediterranean vegetation and a long beach that reaches the two ends of the beautiful bay that hosts it. Going on a pleasant walk to the left, you arrive in an area where naturists usually meet who, undisturbed, can fully enjoy what Mother Nature has been able to give to this place. Going to the right, on the other hand, you will find other more famous and noble beaches such as the well-known Paradise Beach, much loved by young people and families.
Magic Beach is a riot of naturalness, we like to come and have long bbqs that last until late in the evening when darkness envelops everything and the only light is that of the stars and the moon if full which is reflected in the sea. A small disused shed, let’s say very spartan, where you can prepare your own food, obviously on concession after a polite request to those who manage the umbrellas. For those who want everything ready, above the beach on the promontory a panoramic tavern serving fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes with a 360 degree view of the entire gulf, all included in the price!
The beach is perfect for families with children, for couples in short, for everyone and above all it is ideal for those who love taking long walks to discover the area. It is a well-equipped beach with sunbeds and umbrellas at a cost of about € 8 per day and is also equipped with a comfortable shower where you can remove the salt after a nice regenerating bath.
It is also part of the beautiful coves found in the southern part of the island. Reaching it is child’s play, always along the one and only road that leads from one end to the other, it is the first one you meet, therefore, turn right where there is a large signpost and a delicious shop that sells honey artisan and follow the dirt road that descends towards the bay. It will perhaps be a couple of kilometers not difficult to do that offer a breathtaking view of the whole district. It is always better to be independent with a rented vehicle that is a car or scooter, both are fine, so that you can stay until the magical moment of sunset, an indescribable spectacle. For those who prefer public transport, from the main tourist resorts there are trips every day at different times. Always check the timetables as they change according to the season. The bus will drop you off at the beginning of the road and to get to the beach you will have to walk a bit. Being completely exposed to the sun, we recommend that you bring a cap and water with you.
We know we are repetitive and at each beach we tell you to include it in the things to see in Kos but believe us it is really a difficult task to decide which ones to visit and which not, the choice is yours.
