The colorful and particular Lambi Beach, we find it in the north east part of the mysterious Patmos Island about ten kilometers from the capital Chora and less than four kilometers from the Kampos bay.
Its name Lambi in Greek means “shining” and it owes it to the fact that given its position with the sun during the day the colored stones and the sea are reflected to the point of becoming almost blinding when they become bright.
The long coastline enclosed in the gulf with imposing rock formations covered by Mediterranean scrub on the sides is composed of small and medium-sized pebbles of many colors in fact it is also remembered as the rainbow beach, clean and crystalline waters with a sparkling blue sea and seabed that descend quite quickly so if you have small children have an extra foresight.
It is not equipped, perhaps some sun beds and umbrellas even if most of the beach is free so you can decide and choose the corner that most inspires you and lie down to enjoy a magnificent sunny day. We recommend for those with delicate feet to bring rock shoes, while for those who do not like hard ground and feel like a half fakir, a mat to relax. For a respite during the hot hours of the day, a few tamarisk trees will be a real godsend.
If you are invaded by hunger pangs or your throat suddenly dries up, you can find comfort in the typical tavern on the beach in the shade of a large tree where fantastic dishes of always fresh fish, of the Greek and local tradition, are served. The atmosphere is just like the one you see in the movies, blue and white chairs and tables, the Aegean on the horizon and wrapped in an intact and original nature.
If on the other hand, you want something more refined for your meal, just six hundred meters above the road you will find the Leonidas restaurant that we recommend especially in the evening and perhaps when there is a full moon. With a beautiful panoramic terrace and surrounded by greenery, you can enjoy views to leave a mark on your heart, especially in the evening when the moon reflects vanity in the sea and even better in the full moon when the natural light of the star illuminates the entire bay.
From Lambi beach on the way back or even before stopping, you can go to visit the remains of Platis Gialos and the church of Evanghelistra in Kampos where an icon believed to be miraculous is kept. On March 25 and August 14, many pilgrims arrive from all the neighboring islands to touch the sacred effigy and a great party is organized with songs, music and popular food for everyone.
Patmos being a small island, offers its visitors multiple solutions to be able to visit it.
In the case of Lambi beach, if you have a rental vehicle that is a car or scooter, taking the Kampos village as a reference point, you can get there in about ten minutes. Once you arrive in the bay follow the road that is uphill, at a certain point you will have two possibilities either to go right towards Vagia beach and also the other beaches of this part of Patmos, or turn left, follow the only one road in the middle of a vegetation made of shrubs and low and fragrant aromatic herbs up to the Lambi beach.
If you are not independent but you like walking the same thing. With a public bus that leaves from the major towns such as Skala rather than the Chora, reach Kampos and from there continue on foot for about half an hour.
Finally, if you love the sea, you can reach it by boat from the port of Skala which almost every day organizes the excursion to Lambi.
Another magnificent beach to be included among the things to see in Patmos and not to be missed during your holiday in Greece.
