The large Kionia beach, we find it in the southwest area of the mystical Tinos Island about three kilometers west of the Chora.
The whole area ofKionia is very beautiful, passing from a mountain scenery to the seaand with a respectable nature around. The village of the same name isone of the favorite destinations for visitors and is especially perfect for families with small children or for those who want aholiday in Tinos based on relaxation and peace. There are manytourist structures that offer accommodation, from apartments to largeresorts directly on the sea with all possible comforts andentertainment.
Kionia beach is largelymade of soft light sand mixed with stones, clear and transparentwaters, a sea that goes from blue to turquoise to sparkling blue witha seabed that descends slowly where the little ones can have fun inabsolute safety and the grown-ups enjoy the warm sunrays. It shouldbe noted that at the end of the beach, after the rocks, there arethree delightful little coves, first because they are downwind andsecondly because they are not very busy.
The area of the resort is partly equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, games and watersports, while a part is completely free so you can choose the cornerthat inspires you the most, spread out your towel and spend hours incomplete relaxation. For something to drink and eat you can stock upin the mini markets in the village. As for the shade, Mother Naturealso comes to our aid in this case, the coast is surrounded byprovidential tamarisk trees where you can find respite in the hottesthours of the day and maybe even take a refreshing nap.
Kionia beach is always veryclean and well-kept, sometimes it is a little windswept butfortunately only a few days a month when the Meltemi makes itselffelt, so before planning a day right here, consult the weatherforecast to avoid unnecessary travel . Snorkelers can have fun in thepart near the rocks to discover the underwater world so put fins, mask and snorkel in your backpack.
Added value to the whole areais the lack of nightlife in the village thus offering moments ofabsolute tranquility and above all without annoying noises.
In ancient times a templededicated to the God Poseidon, God of the sea, earthquakes and horseswas erected and it was customary to come here to swim because thewaters were considered sacred. Today you can admire the ruins of thetemple where ceremonies and propitiatory rites were celebrated. Thestretch of beach directly in front of the site forms part of Tsambiabeach and is close to the cliffs and consequently sheltered from thewind.
It is not difficult indeed onthe contrary very simple. If you have a rental vehicle, whether it’sa car or a scooter, it makes no difference, just head southwestfollowing the main road and the signs towards Kionia.
A second chance if you don’twant to get behind the wheel for your holiday in Greece, there ispublic transport with buses that will take you here. Always consultthe timetables to better organize your trip.
Last but not so bad, walk. Ifyou stay at the Chora, it’s a three-kilometre walk starting from theport, following the coastal road in the opposite direction to thetown.
A destination that deservesto be included among the things to do in Tinos for a relaxing day atthe beach where you can recharge your batteries.
