Kardamena Beach, we find it in the middle of the island on the east coast about thirty kilometers from the capital Kos Town.
Kardamena, in size is the second largest town of Kos, let’s say almost like the capital but in miniature. Once a fishing village, over the years it has had a great tourist development offering today a wide choice of hotels and apartments.
The village made of intersecting alleys are full of souvenir shops, cafes, bars, taverns and typical restaurants where you can taste local specialties and Greek cuisine.
A beautiful walk on the sea where there is the small port of Kardamena from which boats leave every day for excursions to the fascinating Nisyros island where the volcano is located, or to reach Agia Irini famous for its thermal waters.
It is a very wide coastline of light sand mixed with some pebbles, bathed by a clean and crystalline sea with colors ranging from blue to turquoise to emerald. The seabed in some places drops quite quickly and is perfect for snorkelers due to its wealth of fish fauna and underwater rock formations.
It is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas at a cost starting from € 5 upwards while in other beaches it is free with at least one compulsory drink. There are many beach bars overlooking the sea that also offer fresh drinks, colorful cocktails and when the peckish comes, delicious and quick dishes or real lunches all even directly under the umbrella without you having to get up, better than this !
Beautiful at sunset or at sunrise when the sky and the sea come together in perfect encounter with a multitude of colors making the scenery like a beautiful painting.
Kardamena village is much loved by families because you can ‘find everything without the confusion that perhaps can’ be found in the much larger capital and consequently with more ‘people. Its position is also ideal for visiting the splendid coves in the south of the island of Kos, the most ‘particular and most’ sought after part for a day at sea, where kilometer-long beaches of soft sand, transparent and blue waters that slope gently are a real natural playground for families with children.
Getting to Kardamena be it the beach or the village is very simple. You have to go halfway up the island on the east side following the road signs. The road that descends for a while is very scenic with small canyons formed during the geological eras that give the area a charm of its own up to the view of the immense Aegean. For those who have decided not to rent their own vehicle, there is a public bus service from the main seaside resorts of the island.Always pay attention to timetables.
Unless you have decided to stay right here during your holiday in Greece, mark it among the things to see in Kos, as always it will be a pleasant surprise.
