Here is another hidden pearl of the Mykonos island, the Kapari beach not far from Mykonos Town, a ten minute walk from the most famous Agios Ioannis beach.
Solitary and uncontaminated, Kapari beach offers moments of pure relaxation in contradiction with the lifestyle that Mykonos island usually offers and for which it is so famous in the world, a real ecstasy for the mind where your unique thought will be to put the cream in order not to burn you.
A small corner of paradise, almost secret where a tiny piece of shoreline with soft sand and flat rocks protected by high cliffs, offers a sea of iridescent turquoise with its always calm waters thanks to its position and extremely clear. The mainly sandy seabed slopes gently making it so perfect for those who love long swims and for families with children who can play freely and safely.
Logically being almost lost, it is not equipped at all, not even a bit of shade and even less refreshment points so if you decide to spend the day, bring everything you need to eat, drink and shelter from the sun.
Just behind Kapari beach, the picturesque Agios Ioannis church where at the end of September there is a famous festival with local gastronomic delicacies such as onion cake or almond desserts, and a few minutes walk to the beach that takes the name of the request much more known and also wider.
From the top of the cliff, however, the panorama is breathtaking with the ancient Delos island in front and a postcard sunset where the play of lights seems almost artificial, so perfect and sublime.
If you do not have your own vehicle, take the bus from Mykonos Town to Agios Ioannis and keeping to the right, looking at the sea, continue to a white church, then follow the dirt road again until you see Kapari beach from the cliff. If you have a car, follow the road to Agios Ioannis and park where the rocks go down to the beach and continue on foot. Be careful because the path is a bit rough so bring tennis shoes avoiding flip flops if you don’t want to slip and get hurt.
Our advice is to go there early in the morning, to be able to enjoy this enchanting and wild part of Mykonos almost alone, far from everything and everyone. It certainly deserves to be marked as one of the things to see in Mykonos, it would be a great shame to miss it …
