The Kambos beach, we find it in the north east part of the beautiful Patmos Island right in the village of the same name. The capital Chora is about nine kilometers away while the port of Skala where one arrives when visiting Patmos is five.
A large bay with a long coastline made of sand mixed with small pebbles, clean, clear waters and let’s face it even in a bit cold, a blue and turquoise sea with gently sloping seabed perfect for families with children and for those who like to swim. Behind it providential tamarisk trees that give natural shade during the hottest hours to those who decide for a do-it-yourself day.
Kambos beach is certainly the most organized and popular on the island, locals and tourists gather in this part of the island during the summer. There are sunbeds, umbrellas, water games such as the fun ride on the tubes that will make you whiz on the water like a formula 1 driver, or you can enjoy water skiing, and still rent a pedal boat and take a ride around the entire bay. , while for the more sporty a point where to take wakeboarding, wake surfing, wake skating and windsurfing lessons.
Given its position, the Kambos beach is quite protected from the winds, some days you will find a breeze maybe more ‘pushed but it is never a big problem, indeed during the hottest days when temperatures reach even over 40 degrees it is a real blessing.
Also as regards the catering and comfort it is very well equipped, small bars, cafes and typical taverns where you can eat with your feet in the sand with an infinite view of the sea while enjoying local specialties and classic Greek cuisine. You will find the best lobster in Patmos right here in Kato Kambos as the area is also called, do not miss the opportunity to taste it.
From the village also given its favorable location, you can reach other wonderful beaches, continuing on the main road you will arrive at a small crossroads, if you turn right you can reach the Vaja beach or the twin beaches up to Livadi Geranou beach. If, on the other hand, you turn left you will arrive at Lambi beach, in short, if you wish, you will be spoiled for choice as to how to commit your time during your holiday in Patmos.
As with almost all beaches in Greece, you have two options. The first is the most comfortable and fast with your own rental vehicle which can be a car or scooter (we in Patmos recommend the scooter much easier to find parking, explore the island and stop even just for a souvenir photo as Patmos offers glimpses to be immortalized at all costs). Keeping Skala as a landmark, head north following the main road. Once in Kampos you will first find a small square, take the road to the left of the church and begin to descend for about five minutes until you reach the bay where the beach is located.
For those who prefer to move by public transport, from Skala there are public runs that lead to the village every day, the only precaution we recommend is to check the timetables well to be able to better manage your time as in depending on the season they can change.
Kambos beach is a must to do during your holiday in Greece, mark it as what to do in Patmos you will spend a wonderful day at sea.
