Getting around Mykonos

We believe that everything and more has been said about Mykonos by now, what to do then to further pique your curiosity?

Let’s start with the dimensions, the island covers about 90 square kilometers for a length of 20 kilometers and a width of 8 to 15 kilometers. Its territory is the classic one found in all the Greek Islands with some peaks such as the Profiti Ilias which alternates with valleys full of olive and citrus groves and then reaches the coast with its splendid beaches.

Mykonos still manages to arouse emotions at the mere sight of a sunset, rather than meeting the likeable pelican Petros (not the original but his descendant) undisputed symbol of the island and still with a nice walk through the mazes of its capital to end up in the picturesque villages such as Ano Mera up to a jump to the sacred island of Delos.

A characteristic of Mykonos are the Chorià, farms dating back to the past built in the massive rocks still present in the area and its countryside with small rural churches dating back to the 1600s, in short, not only nightlife, but also culture and exploration are possible in this incredible island with a thousand faces.

Did you know that according to Greek mythology his name comes from Mykons, son of Anio the king of Delos and nephew of Apollo? And also that it was where the Gigantomachy ended by signing the victory of Heracles over the terrible giants and that the bodies of the latter are nothing but their petrified bodies now rocks?

History, culture, entertainment, nature all you can find in Mykonos!

So let’s move on to a fundamental question, how to get around Mykonos. Given its small size, you can opt for the vehicle that best fits your needs but remember better to make reservations well in advance to avoid not finding anything and above all paying their weight in gold.

Car: not really the best choice because the streets are small and narrow and the parking problem is a nightmare. However, it remains the most comfortable opportunity if you are spoiled.

Scooter: the best way since Mykonos is small. However, bear in mind that there are a few hills, so stay on engines over 80 cc. The quad is perfect, fun and will get you anywhere.

Public transport: the public network is well developed and will take you to many places including the most famous beaches of Paradise and Super Paradise. For timetables, consult this site:
