The beautiful Faneromeni beach also known as Tou Garbi beach to Avlaki, we find it on the Antiparos island just in front of the older sister Paros Island in the southwestern part.
Wedged in a small, narrow and deep bay, the beach of Faneromeni will present itself to your eyes as a little lost paradise made of a coastline that extends for about thirty meters of soft and fine sand with light colors, clear and extremely transparent waters, a bright turquoise sea with a gently sloping seabed covered with white gravel, ideal for families with children. On the sides, rock formations where snorkelers can explore the fish fauna and flora and also go to the discovery of the cave reachable by swimming at the end of the bay on the right. So do not forget fins, mask and an underwater camera to immortalize the friendly inhabitants and the marine environment.
All around the beach wild thyme and oregano plants that release an intoxicating scent during the warm months. In reality, the coves are two close to each other, the second with rocks and stones. This will allow you to move in the event that the one you reach first with the sand should be more "crowded" if we can use this adjective as it is difficult to find so many people because reaching it is not so easy.
The Faneromeni beach is not equipped at all, here sunbeds, umbrellas, refreshment points not even the shade, only wild and uncontaminated nature where you can get lost and recharge your energy so if you decide to spend a whole day remember to bring everything you need from water reserves to hydrate you, to something to eat when the peckish begins to be felt, to something to shelter you from the sun as there is not even a mirage of trees.
Given its particular position, Faneromeni beach is well protected from the winds that usually caress the Cyclades Islands, making it an excellent refuge for a quiet and pleasant day at the beach.
Nearby a characteristic church from the early twentieth century built by the fishermen of the island dedicated to the Virgin Mary whitewashed with the classic blue dome built on the ruins of a medieval church. Inside there are some ancient icons of great value and a sepulchral tomb where you can dedicate a candle and a prayer. A beautiful and heartfelt party is celebrated on 7 and 8 September for the name day of the Virgin Mary where you can participate if during your holiday in Greece you will be in Paros to get into the island spirit and share moments of pure Greek life.
The idyllic beach of Faneromeni is a real journey but believe us the effort is worth it!
First of all you will have to reach the Antiparos Island which is feasible with a boat from Paros starting from Parikia or Pounda where a ferry leaves every hour at a cost of about € 1.50 per person each way.
Once you reach Antiparos, with a vehicle you have to travel the dirt road that starts from Soros passing through Sostis until you reach the small church near the beach of Faneromeni through a path that extends for about four kilometers where you can admire incredible views of the sea and the cliffs.
It would be better to have either a quad or a 4x4, a simple car makes a little effort and is dangerous in the event of a breakdown.
The second alternative is on foot if you love walking. Just take care to bring comfortable shoes, water and a hat as the road is all under the sun.
Last and perhaps the most comfortable of all with an organized excursion. There are many tourist agencies in Paros that offer interesting and various itineraries to discover the area.
What to add other than to write it in the list of things to do in Paros and go and discover it for yourself?
