The hidden Diamandi beach also called Diamanti beach and still by the locals Koutseri beach, we find it in the southernmost part on the west coast of thesplendid Skiathos Island. Just five kilometers from the capitalSkiathos Town.
Isolated (and then you willunderstand why when we tell you how to reach it) in a stilluncontaminated and intact natural context, it presents itself with aharvested coastline of gold-colored sand mixed with small pebbles, clean and crystalline waters, a sea that goes from emerald toturquoise until it becomes sparkling blue towards the open sea, atypical color that only the Aegean Sea can offer and depths thatdescend slowly for the first few meters from the shore.
Near the Diamanti beach, thelandscape in the summer is barren and almost lunar while the nearbypromontory behind it is exactly the opposite, full of luxuriantvegetation and the contrast makes this part of Skiathos truly specialand almost heavenly.
It is equipped with a fewsunbeds and umbrellas at a cost of more or less € 10 a day but givenits small size there aren’t that many, so if you want to spend acomfortable day and not have to lie down with your towel, go there inthe morning also because in the afternoon the boats begin to arrivewith the tourists who have decided to reach it with a boat excursionthat also touches the beach of Koukounaries and the beach of Lalariawhere most of the people mainly stop.
As far as catering isconcerned, there is only one tavern which usually prefers boatcustomers but which will still be able to give you support forsomething fresh to drink and delight your palate with dishes ofclassic traditional Greek or territorial cuisine.
Snorkelers will have a blastdiscovering the marine fauna and flora of Diamandi beach, so makesure to pack fins, a mask and a snorkel in your backpack.
Here comes the beautybut as always the effort will then be amply rewarded with beauty. Youhave three ways to reach Diamandi beach, one is by sea or with yourown boat if you are among the luckiest, or with one of the excursionsthat are organized by the island’s tourist agencies.
The second opportunityinstead is by land. It’s essential to have your own vehicle, whetherit’s a car or a scooter, it doesn’t matter, it always depends on yourholiday concept. You get up to a certain point via a paved road, keepthe capital as a point of reference and from there head south-westfollowing the road signs. You will reach where the road ends and youwill find yourself in front of a closed gate, from here you canproceed only on foot. Follow the path which is actually quiteimpervious but surrounded by greenery with a dirt road that goesdownwards and in about ten minutes of walking you will have arrived.
In this regard, werecommend that you have tennis shoes and avoid flip flops for thedescent because you could slip and ruin your holiday in Skiathos.Even if you have children or motor problems, be very careful.
A third option couldalso be to take advantage of one of the many taxi boats that willallow you to independently reach many wonderful coves throughoutSkiathos.
The adventure toDiamanti beach is definitely challenging if you decide to do it onfoot, but believe us, the reward will go even beyond yourexpectations, so mark it among the things to see in Skiathos.
