The Prophet Elias Monastery, is the highest point on the Patmos island at an altitude of 269 meters above sea level.

From here the view is so spectacular that on the clearest days you can see the Turkish coasts as well as the Lipsi islands.

In the small church of the Prophet Elias there is a Kathisma (they are practically psalms) owned by Neofytos from Symi.

As in all places of worship, appropriate clothing is required, with legs and shoulders strictly covered for both men and women.

Getting there is simple, from the Hora follow to Diakofti, turn right and follow the sign indicating Kouvari, Agia Paraskevi, Profitis Elia, then right again towards the road which is uphill of about a kilometer.

The perfect time to reach the Prophet Elias is surely at sunset where the sky is reflected in the sea and needless to say, go there.
