And here we are now at another splendid beach on the multifaceted Evia Island, the Armyrichi Beach. We find it in the eastern part about halfway in the Sterea Ellada region near the Mesochoria village.
Used as a location for various Greek TV commercials, Armyrichi beach is of a shocking beauty in its total simplicity. A small bay protected by rocky promontories with some typically Mediterranean shrubs that shelter it from the whims of the wind, a coast of dark gold sand mixed with small pebbles, waters with a sparkling and intense blue color, a backdrop that immediately becomes deep and for this reason it offers such a dark color perfect for lovers of long swims but not suitable for children or for those who do not excel in swimming!
On the sides, caves dug by time and atmospheric events where you can find refreshment and where you can discover through tunnels other precious beaches with tiny dimensions where maybe you can stay up to three but that give privacy and absolute peace.
The surrounding landscape is barren, almost lunar but perfectly preserved and as at its origin, what more could you ask for?
It goes without saying that it is not equipped, no sunbeds or umbrellas, only your towel spread out where inspiration will guide you and some inveterate and nostalgic camper who still brings his curtain and the square to the best place to enjoy so much benevolence on the part of Mother Nature.
In spite of everything, however, with regard to catering, despite its almost remote location, the Armyrichi beach offers a simple and comfortable canteen or a typical tavern very famous among the islanders and not only who compete to find a table and savor the delights of the day based on fresh products and ancient recipes.
The only part exposed to the wind is the north east part but who cares, sometimes it is also a real godsend for high temperatures especially during the summer season.
A tip if you want to spend the day here and find a place in the shade since there are no trees around the beach and maybe you don't have your own parasol, arrive early in the morning so as to grab the cave on the right which is the only one place sheltered from the sun.
Snorkelers can have fun here to the extreme, the whole coast has ravines to discover as well as a lively fish fauna and flora, so don't forget a mask, fins, snorkel and an underwater camera so as to immortalize the wonders of the abyss.
It necessarily takes a vehicle of its own, there are no public races that lead up to here and perhaps also for this reason it is still so well hidden and not besieged by mass tourism.
The road is paved and very comfortable for most of the journey even if especially in the final part there are some curves and it narrows, just be a little careful and it is doable in complete tranquility.
Follow the signs towards Zarakes and exit right towards Mesochoria. Once in Mesochoria, cross the main road to the end of the village where you will find a sign with the word Armychiri, here turn left, follow the road and you will arrive directly on the beach.
A much loved destination on weekends by the Athenians, the Armyrichi beach deserves to be included among the things to see in Evia, it will be a dip in the wildest and most primitive nature.
