The Arginontas Beach, we find it on the west side north of the beautiful Kalymnos Island about fourteen kilometers from the capital Pothia.
Hidden in a small fjord (Kalymnos has several coves thanks to its morphology), it has a beach of pebbles of different sizes bathed by clean and transparent waters, a blue and turquoise sea that during some hours of the day becomes silver with backdrops that descend quickly therefore not really suitable for families with small children, but perfect for those who like to take long swims.
Given the presence of many pebbles, if you have delicate feet, we recommend wearing rock shoes so as not to hurt yourself and enjoy the beach more freely. It is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas while a part is completely free and you can spread out your towel where you like most for a beautiful sunny day and shelter in the shade of the trees that naturally grow on the coast.
As for catering, Arginontas beach offers a tavern overlooking the sea where you can try delicious local dishes and Greek cuisine (in our opinion Kalymnos is the island where you eat and drink better perhaps thanks to the fact that islanders have been fishing for generations and consequently the catch every day is fresh and of excellent quality). For something faster instead you will find a bar serving light dishes and thirst-quenching drinks.
The homonymous village behind, is the classic Greek fishing village with a wonderful sea in front and rocky mountains behind which during the summer take on an almost lunar atmosphere given the high temperatures that make the Mediterranean vegetation that dot the cliffs dry. In the town of Arginontas you can find some accommodation but they are very few so if you want to opt for this part of the island for your holiday in Kalymnos, worry about booking well in advance. For the “after beach”, some typical cafes where maybe have an aperitif and strike up some nice conversation with the locals who are always happy to give valuable information on their beloved island.
Yes, because the inhabitants of Kalymnos are very proud of their origins and troubles compared to the other islands of the Dodecanese!
Wherever you decide to stay on the island, the direction is northwest, following the main road and the road signs to Arginontas.
It is always better to have a rental vehicle so that you can move more freely without time constraints, perhaps taking advantage of combining another destination to visit on the same day.
If on the other hand, you want to use the public service, there are actually races a few times a day and in this regard we strongly advise you to consult the timetables to be able to organize yourself better.
Arginontas beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, it lacks nothing, spectacular sea, delicious food, splendid views of the Aegean and so much relaxation, an atmosphere that can be breathed everywhere since we are not in one of the most fashionable destinations of the Dodecanese, on the contrary a territory still standing in time where the clock is not constantly under control to live moment by moment.
Mark Arginontas beach among the things to do in Kalymnos, it will be a pleasant parenthesis of your holiday.
