The small Apothikes Beach, we can define it without modesty a little gem in the beautiful Andros Island.
We find it in the west towards the south of the island just below Stavropeda and not far from the Chalkolimionas Beach. A small inlet that, thanks to its position, protects the beach of Apothikes from the winds, making it perfect for a relaxing day at the beach.
Its name which in Greek means “warehouses” owes it to the presence of small sheds that were once used by fishermen as storage for boats during the winter to protect them from atmospheric agents.
A coast of soft white sand, bathed by a sea with emerald reflections, crystal clear and extremely clean waters with a seabed that descends quite easily. Around rock formations perfect for snorkelers who can enjoy the rich and lively marine life so remember fins, mask and maybe an underwater camera to immortalize the wonders of the Aegean.
Behind the Apothikes beach, a mountain full of undergrowth, fig trees and holly all in an extremely wild context where the territory is still intact and original to fully enjoy the generosity of Mother Nature.
It is partly equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, while for a quick meal or a cold drink, there is a small bar. One part is completely free and you can choose where to put your towel and let yourself be pampered by the warm rays of the sun.
An intimate, quiet beach, a real embrace of the sea where there are usually not so many people and confusion, ideal for lovers of relaxation and nature.
It is very simple to reach the Apothikes beach, you have to take a southwest direction and take the road that leads to the beach of Chalkolimiona on the provincial road towards Chora and Stavropeda, turn right and then right again, at a certain point you meet a dirt road feasible but we always recommend that you go slow whether you have a car rather than a moped and in no time you will be there.
A hidden corner to be discovered and where to be lulled only by the sound of the sea, to disconnect from everything and everyone and rest body and mind, therefore essential to include it among the things to see in Andros.
