The picturesque Amoudi Bay is found in the northern part of the island of Santorini right at the foot of the beautiful Oia village, wedged between the imposing cliffs, inside a small cove that directly overlooks the mythical Caldera of the island.
The landscape is phenomenal because of the colors that the panorama offers mixing between the red of the rock formations, the white and white buildings of the small port and the blue of the sea. Even more evocative is the moment of sunset when the sky takes on colors ranging from warm orange to red and fuchsia which together with the landscape make this small part of Santorini even more beautiful and to be immortalized in the perfect photograph.
Not stormed by mass tourism as the road to reach it is not exactly easy and perhaps also because the most famous and noble beaches are located towards the south of Santorini, in recent years it is beginning to make itself known especially for its typical taverns that offer, in addition to being able to have lunch or dinner by the sea, also fresh fish that local fishermen supply the small restaurants every day, giving them recognition as the best places to eat in Santorini. No less important however is the view from the top of the stacks that dominate the majestic and mysterious Aegean Sea. From the tiny port, boats also leave to visit Thirassia, the small volcanic island just in front of it and also to reach the original church of Efta Paides, built just above a rock spur in the Caldera.
The beach is very small and can be reached through 214 steps or more traditionally on the back of a mule. The small coastline is made up of pebbles, rocks and fairly deep bottoms so it is not very suitable for families with children, but perfect for snorkelers thanks to the lively marine fauna. However, if you want to take a nice refreshing bath, it is better to move from the port to a hundred meters southwards through a rocky path where there is less maritime traffic as the navigation of boats and the lack of points to enter the water make it a bit dangerous.
A wild and unspoiled place that despite the popularity of the island of Santorini has managed to preserve its appearance and atmosphere. Here tranquility reigns supreme and must remain so!
Not far from the Amoudi bay, there are also other beautiful beaches such as the silent Katharos beach, ideal for those who love relaxation. It is made of black pebbles with some stones (remember to bring your rock shoes), with two boulders that as if by magic rise into the sea, and again Armeni beach with a small sandy coast, deep blue waters, deep and two beautiful caves at the foot of the spur to be explored. It can be reached either by sea or by taking 286 steps from the village of Oia.
A wonderful experience especially if you stay until sunset, to discover a part that is still genuine and original and take advantage of a good fish meal.
It is useless to advise you to include it among the things to do in Santorini.
