The suggestive Agios Sostis beach, we find it in the southern part of the island about eleven kilometers from the capital and only two and a half kilometers from the lively Laganas.
A beautiful bay that includes a beautiful beach and a small islet called Cameo Island that magically emerges from the waters in the Gulf of Turtles, a protected area where animals come to nest and connected to the mainland by a picturesque wooden bridge. In the past it was a single piece of coastline, but a strong earthquake detached the portion that has now become the small island.
The coast where you can enjoy a beautiful long sunny day and soft golden sand, is bathed by extremely clear, crystalline and turquoise waters with a gently sloping seabed perfect for families with children and for those who love swimming. It is very well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and a few taverns where you can put your legs under the table and delight your palate with dishes based on fresh products and the classic Greek tradition. It is not difficult to spot some specimens of turtles that carefree wanders in the sand and in this regard we recommend that you have the utmost respect for animals since they are part of a category in danger of extinction.
There is also a small pier where you can dock the boat in case you want to rent it to discover the whole area around which is very interesting. Excursions to Marathonisi island and the suggestive Keri Caves also depart from Agios Sostis.
Certainly the most fascinating part of Agios Sostis beach is its islet which during the day is ideal for snorkelling fans due to the multitude of fish around the rocks, while in the evening, plays of lights illuminate both the bridge. which reaches it with a romantic walk that transforms the island into a nightclub under the stars, making the environment mysterious and enchanted as well as a popular destination for tourists. We inform you that both during the day and in the evening, the visit is subject to charges.
There are various ways to reach Agios Sostis beach, one is on foot with a walk of about half an hour from Laganas if you have decided to stay there for your holiday in Zakynthos. The second with your own vehicle which is still ideal since it will not give you time limits, the third with public transport that depart every day from Zakynthos Town and Laganas at various times of the day (always consult the timetables). Last chance by sea with a private boat. Our advice is always to be independent especially if you want to spend the evening maybe even making four jumps in the disco on the islet.
An unmissable stretch of the gulf, to be put on the list of things to do in Zakynthos, where you can immerse yourself in a wonderful nature enjoying a bath in clear waters and if lucky, get in touch with prehistoric reptiles and then end the day in beauty under the stars of Zakynthos.
