The remote and isolated Agios Petros Beach, we find it in the southwestern part of the Tinos Island about five kilometers from the picturesque Kardiani village which is perched right on the mountain with a wonderful view and traditional marble architecture. The capital Tinos Town is about fifteen kilometers to the south.
Agios Petros beach is a paradise for those who want a day in solitude and away from the crowds to relax mind and body in a still intact nature. It has a coastline divided in two by a large rock which as if by magic seems to emerge from the sea where there is the picturesque church of St. Peter dating back to the sixteenth century. Soft and wide sand on the right, gravel and narrow on the left, clean and clear waters, a turquoise blue sea to an intense blue, a seabed that descends slowly, therefore perfect for families with children and for lovers of swimming.T
he comforts are not at all equipped here, forget it, no sunbeds, umbrellas or kiosks, not even the shade can be ‘found so’ if during your holiday in Tinos you want to go as far as this lonely land, remember to bring everything you need to leave from something to drink, to eat and above all to shelter you from the sun during the hottest hours. Given its position especially in August when the winds blow strongly for a few days on the Cyclades Islands it is not very sheltered indeed we can say that it is rather exposed to the atmospheric event so if you are not a lover of the wind, we advise you before embarking on the adventure of consult the weather conditions.
The Agios Petros beach, however, is a very popular destination for sportsmen who are dedicated to diving as its strong point is a wreck of a boat that went sheer after a shipwreck. You also come for the wonderful view of the beautiful Syros Island just opposite that we recommend you go and visit because it is very interesting and different from the other Greek Islands.
One of the reasons why the Agios Petros beach is not so crowded and assaulted by hordes of tourists is the fact that reaching it is quite challenging if your concept of vacation is to beat as little as possible and have all but all comforts at your fingertips.
First of all we specify that it is necessary to have your own vehicle that is scooter or car it does not matter, it is essential to be independent because there is no public transport that goes up to here (and in our hearts we never hope there will be enough to keep intact and uncontaminated the area as well as offering a refuge for a moment of relaxation).
Then head south west following the signs and the paved road to Kardiani. Once in the village, turn left and take Ormos Kardiani Giannakis to take a dirt road that ends after a couple of kilometers where you have to leave the vehicle and continue on foot for a few minutes and voilà you will then arrive at your destination.
If you want a little adventure in the wild and desolate lands to discover the territory, the Agios Petros beach and the whole surrounding area is to be noted among the things to see in Tinos, it will certainly be a beautiful day of exploration with the addition a few hours on a beautiful and quiet beach.
