Agios Ioannis beach we find it in the southwest part of the Mykonos island near the picturesque Ornos village. Just in front as in a painting the mythological Delos island.
It is considered the most beautiful beach in the whole coastal area. Small and collected, it is of soft white sand, with an extremely clean and transparent sea with turquoise and blue waters. The seabed descends very gently and is very suitable for families with children where children can have fun safely and for those who love long swims.
The bay sheltered by promontories that protect it from the winds, is very quiet and ideal for those who want to enjoy a day of total relaxation away from the crowds and busy life which is why the Mykonos island is very famous. Agios Ioannis beach is divided into two parts by rocks; one side is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and as a reference point is the picturesque Hippie Fish restaurant https://www.facebook.com/HippieFishOfficial/ which offers perfect service from the restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine to the beach service served and revered without even having to move from your own bed, all seasoned with background music that eases tensions and maybe even makes you take a nap. The other part is free and you can settle down as you see fit. There are however other restaurants or taverns where you can taste Greek specialties and for sports lovers opportunities ranging from scuba diving to surfing.
As we said before, Agios Ioannis beach is very small and frequented above all by the locals apart from the period in which tourists arrive. Behind it the beautiful San Giovanni church (Agios Ioannis in Greek), which gives its name to the beach where an important festival famous for its gastronomic offer is celebrated at the end of September, if you are lucky enough to participate do not forget to taste the delicious onion cake or traditional sweets with grated almonds.
Another reason to visit the Agios beach Ioannis is certainly the wonderful sunset that Mother Nature gives perhaps stopping in the local tavern for a suggestive dinner with the mystical island of Delos right in front, a real postcard glimpse
Agios Ioannis is however also the name of the village which is located just behind the small coast. Amphitheater shaped is the classic Cycladic village where the houses are of a dazzling white embellished with colorful flowers and labyrinthine mazes that give that particular touch to the Cyclades Islands.
If you have a vehicle just follow the road signs, with the bus from Mykonos Town from the terminus Fabrika it will leave you a few steps from the beach or even if you are in Ornos, with a pleasant walk on the shore.
