The small Yannaki Beach also called Ormos Yannakis beach, we find it on the west coast of the Tinos Island in about half of this beautiful Aegean oasis. The capital is about sixteen kilometers to the south.
It is located just below the Kardiani village which deserves a few words to get to know it better. Perched on the side of the mountain, it is considered one of the most beautiful villages on the island for its impressive architecture, for the extremely green area and the abundance of waterways, fountains and natural springs. The view in Kardiani is breathtaking! Its origins are very ancient, excavations in the area have brought to light six tombs of the geometric period and other archaeological finds that are found today in the museums of Tinos and Athens. It was inhabited by Orthodox and Catholics at the time when coexistence was possible and in this regard you can admire the imposing cathedral of the Holy Trinity (in Greek Agia Triada) and the two Catholic churches of the Assumption and of Kioura. The village has a long tradition in marble processing that has given fame to many artisans who later became famous.
But let’s go back to Yannakis beach, a small shoreline of sand mixed with pebbles with crystal clear and transparent waters, a blue sea with a sandy bottom that slowly descends perfect especially for families with children where the little ones can play in total safety and adults enjoy lazy hours under the warm Hellenic sun. A few tamarisk trees adorn the beach where you can take a regenerating nap.
The Ormos Yannaki beach is equipped with a few sunbeds and umbrellas while behind it there are a couple of taverns where you can find something fresh to drink and taste the dishes of traditional Greek and local cuisine, especially fresh fish thanks to the fact that nearby you find the small port of Exo Meria where fishermen dock their boats after their night fishing trips.
From the beach you have a splendid view of Syros Island which is located right in front of this part of the coast.
Its name comes from a proper name Giannakis an important landowner who lived in the area in the nineteenth century.
Very simple, it is better to have a rental vehicle as always so that you can manage your time without any restrictions.
Direction is west following the main road and road signs. If you want you can also reach the Kardiani village and from there take the old dirt path that reaches the shores of the beach.
For a quiet day the Yannaki beach is undoubtedly ideal, protected from the winds where you can relax in complete harmony with Nature, only for this it is to be put among the things to do in Tinos.
