Velanio beach, we findit in the southeastern part of the Skopelos Island about fivekilometers from the capital Skopelos Town and just after the Stafilios beach.

A marvelous bay surrounded bya thick vegetation of verdant pine forests and high mountains thatshelter it from the winds that usually blow on the Greek Islands, ithas a wide coastline of clear sand mixed with pebbles, clear andtransparent waters, a sea with a thousand shades of blue with depthsthat descend slowly for the first few meters from the shore.

In reality, if we really wantto be picky, Velanio beach is divided into two parts and thereforeoffers two sections to spend a wonderful day at the beach. One ischaracterized by gravel and small stones where you will find sunbeds,umbrellas and a tavern where you can taste the dishes of Greek andlocal cuisine as well as find something refreshing to drink. Theother one, divided from the previous one by two large boulders, iscompletely wild and left in its natural state. Here lovers ofnaturism love to gather so much that the beach of Velanio is theonly one to be recognized and granted on the Skiathos Isandl forpracticing nudism. The beach is soft sand like the seabed andtherefore very comfortable for entering the water.

On the right side ofthe coast, a cave to be discovered where water drips from the rockson the edge and which housed the baths in Roman times.

The beauty of thelandscape is almost reminiscent of the tropics, where the flora trulygives its best, making the environment comfortable and ideal forenjoying hours dedicated to the sea, sunbathing and relaxation. Themoment of sunset is one of the shows that Mother Nature still givesus not to be missed, the view and the colors that the sky, the watersand the whole scenery take on are something unimaginable, you mustnecessarily come here and enjoy it in its magnificence.

For a break during thehottest hours of the day, you can go and visit the archaeologicalfinds just above the beach. You can admire the ruins of the palace ofthe Minoan King Stafilos, the remains of his royal tomb in whichobjects of great value that belonged to the sovereign were found suchas weapons, vases, a stupendous sword probably of Stafilos and goldjewels. Furthermore, an ancient settlement emerged on the promontoryfollowing some excavations.

On the edge of Velanio beach,when the sun sets and it is not crowded by tourists, you can see thegoats that go down from the pasture to the shore to drink.

Certainly on foot coming fromStafilos beach. Velanio beach is located exactly after a rockypromontory which divides it from the other coast. Just follow thepath for about five hundred meters and you will be there in about tenminutes.

If you are not independent,you can take advantage of the daily public buses that reach Stafiliosfrom the main tourist resorts and then continue with a short walk.

Whether you are a nudismlover or not, Velanio beach deserves to be included in the list of things to see in Skopelos, a unique and luxuriant environment whereyou can spend a relaxing day at the beach.
