Tigaki Beach Kos

Tigaki Beach is found on the north-west side of the beautiful and multifaceted island of Kos. The capital Kos Town is about nine kilometers away, also feasible by bicycle through the old road that connects the two locations.

Tigaki was once a simple fishing village, but nowadays it looks like a charming and equipped town to welcome visitors by offering all the comforts for a perfect holiday in Greece. Right in front of the beach you can see the Kalymnos island famous for its sponges and the islet of Pserimos a real paradise with about fifty inhabitants and coves to leave you breathless (consult our website www.infotourskos.com for a ‘excursion).

One of the most popular beaches in Kos, where especially families love to spend a quiet sunny day. Ten kilometers of coastline with soft white sand edged by green maritime pines and tamarisks, bathed by a clean and transparent sea with turquoise blue colors that every year give it the much desired Blue Flag from the seabed that descends slowly, ideal for the little ones. . It is very well equipped, beaches with sun beds and umbrellas where you can lie down comfortably and laze around and behind you are typical taverns where you can taste the delicious dishes of Greek and international cuisine, pubs, bars and cafes. Tigaki develops along the length, it is an elongated street where there are shops, accommodation facilities ranging from hotels to apartments, shops for shopping, a large supermarket, tourist agencies and a wide choice of clubs for the evening, and yes why while during the day everything revolves around the beach, in the evening there is no shortage of opportunities to have fun!

For lovers of relaxation and care of body and mind, a historic Hamam where you can try all the pampering of the Near East.

About five hundred meters from the center of the village, there is the particular salt lake of Alikes. Once until the middle of the last century, salt was one of the island’s sources of income, unfortunately today this activity is no longer so prosperous because it has been replaced by tourism. Lake Alikes is a real oasis of naturalistic peace, where pink flamingos and Caretta-Caretta turtles nest here during the winter and some specimens perennially stop even in summer. they can see that they swim gracefully in the sea. It is also a perfect place to take splendid photographs, especially at sunset when the sky is tinged with shades of yellow to fuchsia, making the landscape like a postcard. Alikes Lake in June usually starts to dry up due to the rising temperatures but it is still a beautiful place to visit.

Tigaki is also an excellent base to explore the mountains of the island of Kos and the beautiful mountain villages with a long history behind it such as the Asfendiou village where for over a century a particular wine has been grown and produced that only here you can taste as it is not exported anywhere in the world, and again the Pyli village surrounded by greenery and with a historic fountain where you can drink excellent spring water. And again for trekking lovers, a nice walk through the woods until you reach the highest point of Kos, Mount Dikeo, where the panoramic view is spectacular.

How to get to Tigaki Beach

Simple, either by taking the main road and then following the signs towards the village, or by taking the “old” road that runs along the sea passing through the vegetable gardens where it is also possible to buy fruit and vegetables directly from the growers. To reach Tigaki there are various possibilities, either with a nice ride on a bicycle, or on foot for lovers of walking, the scooter or the car instead for the more lazy. There is also a bus service with trips several times a day from the main tourist resorts.

A beach to be included among the things to see in Kos, for a fabulous sea and a day in full relaxation.
