By now I think you understand, the Naxos island gives its visitors miles and miles of beautiful sandy beaches and being able to choose which is the best really becomes a big dilemma.
We want to talk in this article about the fantastic Pyrgaki beach which is located in the south west part of the island one of the last coasts to be discovered. About nineteen kilometers from the capital, the pretty bay offers three coves with a beach of soft light sand bathed by a sea with iridescent colors that change from blue to turquoise and extremely clear waters. The seabed slopes gently making it perfect for a healthy and long swim or for families with children who can have fun and play safely.
A strip of sandy land bordered by gentle dunes in a small cove protected enough from the north winds, never crowded and therefore ideal for those who want to spend a day in peace, is surrounded by cedar trees where to shelter from the sun and which give the landscape a look very different from the classic Greek beaches, it reminds much more of exotic areas or the North African Mediterranean.
One part is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and you can find excellent taverns where you can taste dishes based on fresh fish and Greek tradition. For those who also want to stay if they have chosen for their holidays in Greece to make a holiday of relaxation and unspoiled nature, there are some structures most with a fantastic sea view but being not many we advise you to move very quickly to find something. As incurable romantics, we also suggest you to visit Pyrgaki beach at sunset one of the most beautiful moments of the Naxos island in our opinion. Much of the beach is free and you can spread out where you want your ascigamano and enjoy in peace all that is around you.
Part of the Pyrgaki beach is sometimes subject to the wind and on the right days, it is filled with windsurfers or kitesurfers who challenge Eolo with their sails with spectacular stunts, when the wind is not there, it becomes a paradise for everyone.
If you have your own vehicle, just go to the south-west part in the direction of the Vivlos village and then follow the signs for Alyko beach, turn left at a certain point and follow a very viable dirt road for a kilometer and you will have arrived. If you are not independent, from the central bus station to the port of the capital, there are buses that take you to Pyrgaky every day. Always check the timetables because according to the period they can change and always warn the driver what your destination will be because sometimes it happens that the schedule of stops is not respected.
Ultimately, for a day in contact with Mother Nature where you can stay in absolute relaxation, hear only the sound of the waves, take a refreshing swim in an extremely clean crystal clear sea and intensify your tan under the warm Greek sun, Pyrgaki beach is surely your beach, therefore it is a must to mark it among the things to see in Naxos.
