Its birth dates back to 1500 and was one of the 12 named settlements of Sithonia during the Turkish occupation. In the north-east area, the remains of a Roman villa and coins with the image of Lysimachus, a Macedonian general of the court of Alexander the Great who later became King of Thrace (northern Turkey) in 361-281 BC, were found.

Pefkochori also takes its name from the pines (pefka in Greek) that dominate the slope of the land and extend towards the beautiful bay of Toroneaos which is located right between the Kassandra Peninsula and the Sithonia Peninsula, the second phalanx of the Chalkidiki Peninsula.

Near Pefkochori you can also find the Glorakavos beach, one of the most sought after with a beach of soft sand mixed with gravel where there is a beautiful lagoon that hosts small boats for mooring. It is not organized at all but ideal for a day of total relaxation.

Nothing could be simpler, wherever you are staying you have to go to Kassandra and then descend in a south-easterly direction following the road signs or making the internal route through valleys and the magnificent hinterland.
