Paradisia Beach Amorgos

The beautiful Paradisia Beach (you will understand the reason for the name only when you see it), we find it in the northern part on the west coast of Amorgos. The Chora, capital of the island, is about twenty kilometers up towards the north east.

Just a couple of kilometers away is the Kalofana Village, a kind of village stopped in time that houses the Church of Agia Paraskevi where in July from the 25th to the 26th one of the most famous festivals of the Cyclades is organized which attracts curious and devotees from all over the world . The preparation of the event is scheduled ten days in advance where everyone works to prepare the food to be served such as the famous “patatato” an ancient recipe based on kid or goat meat with potatoes that is cooked in huge pots to satisfy all participants in the celebration. Obviously there is no shortage of local dances and music until late and fun is guaranteed!

But let’s talk about the beach, a splendid coastline of golden sand with stones scattered here and there, rock formations on the sides covered with low vegetation of Mediterranean scrub, clean and crystalline waters with a beautiful sea that goes from turquoise to blue. The remains of an early Christian basilica whipped by wind and waves for centuries and centuries, complete the idyllic landscape. A small pier on the right where you can dive or snorkel to admire the seabed of Amorgos.

Of course it is not equipped and is still in its natural state so ‘if you want to spend the whole day there, worry about having drinks, food, sunscreen and something to shelter you from the sun during the hottest hours.

How to reach Paradisia Beach

Although it is to be considered a remote and intact beach, it is very easy to get there. There is a comfortable asphalted road that leads up to Paradisia where once you arrive you can leave your vehicle whether it is car or scooter. Then head southwest following the signs towards Kalofana and in no time you will be at your destination.

If you want you can also get there on foot with a walk of about ten minutes from the chapel of Agia Paraskevi always in Kalofana.

Definitely an ideal place for a day of tranquility in contact with Mother Nature and off the mass tourist circuit, and for this reason alone it deserves to be included among the things to see in Amorgos, for a moment of pure relaxation, perhaps combining a visit to the Kalofana village where you can stop for something to eat in one of the typical taverns that always serve fresh and genuine food at zero kilometer.
