Orkos beach is located in the western part of the Naxos island just in front of the Paros island and about eleven kilometers from the capital Chora.

It is considered the natural extension of Plaka beach and to the south is always very close to Mikri Vigla beach. Coming from Plaka beach, there is a beautiful coastline with a length of about seven hundred meters of soft sand surrounded by trees that give coolness during the hottest hours, then continuing with small coves with reduced dimensions of a maximum of one hundred meters that create real and own private beaches surrounded by rocks.

Behind the gentle red hills that contrast with the turquoise of the sea, the golden sand and cedar trees that sprout on the slopes, create a landscape of great visual effect. In total, the Orkos beach is about a kilometer long and given its position and exposure to winds, it is considered one of the favorite destinations for windsurfers and surfers.

Being very remote, it is not equipped at all so ‘if you want to spend a day here’ remember to bring everything you need. The peculiarity of Orkos beach is the type of sand that being thick will not have a “breaded cutlet” effect when you get out of the water and lie down to dry, much less will fly slapping in the presence of wind. So no sunbeds or umbrellas, they are a wild and unspoiled nature, a real paradise for naturists.

If instead you want to eat or drink, with a walk on the left you will reach Mikri Vigla beach where you can find all possible comforts from beach bars to taverns and different accommodation solutions.

A real pearl on the Naxos island is the Orkos beach, ideal for a day of complete relaxation in contact with mother earth and where nothing becomes infinite with its colors and scents.

The easiest way is through the paved road that starts from the capital along the airport. An alternative can be instead arriving from the village of Vivlos for a dirt road of about two kilometers, or if you love walking on the bathroom dry from Plaka beach or from Mikri Vigla beach. Last chance in case you don’t have your own vehicle, buses to Orkos leave from the port of Naxos every day but we advise you when you get in to inform the driver which is your destination because sometimes the stops are not respected.

To conclude, a magnificent and wild beach with a sea with clear waters and intense shades that pass from blue to turquoise, with a long sandy coast where you can bask in total freedom and see a still unspoiled glimpse of the island. It would be a great pity not to put it among the things to see in Naxos during your holidays in Greece, find a half day to dedicate to it or take advantage if you will be in one of the nearby beaches take a detour, we are sure it will be a real surprise and a beautiful memory to put in the drawer of your memories.
