Mourtia Beach Samos

The solitary Mourtia beachalso called Mourti beach is found in the northeastern part of thegreen Samos Island about seven kilometers from the capital Vathyand two from the Kamara village.

Wedged in the bay of the samename, it has a coastline of small and large pebbles, clean and crystalline waters, a turquoise and emerald-colored sea with depthsthat descend quite quickly and full of stones, therefore notparticularly suitable for families with small children, so much sothat we recommend using rock shoes to enter.

Behind it the mountains thatprotect it from the winds that cyclically blow on the Greek Islands, with expanses of olive trees, maritime pines and luxuriantvegetation, an identifying feature of Samos, as well as exotic palmtrees close to the beach, perfect during the hottest hours of the daywhere you can find a moment of respite and which give the landscapean almost tropical flavour.

It is not equipped at all, Mourtia beach is still wild and in the wild, here Mother Nature growsand shows itself as it was at the origin. No sunbeds, umbrellas orkiosks where you can find something to drink or eat so if during yourholiday in Samos you decide to dedicate a whole day to it rather thana few hours, remember to bring everything you need and maybe even aninflatable mattress to lie down on unless get used to being onstones.

Mourtia beach also has asmall marina where fishermen's boats or the lucky ones who have theirown boats usually dock. It will not be difficult to find yachts andsailboats anchored in this beautiful cove.

From Mourti beach it is alsopossible to go to two other beautiful hidden corners of Samos andprecisely to Mirki Lakka beach and Megali Lakka beach which are aboutone kilometer away while the second is eight hundred meters fromMikri Lakka. Two small corners of paradise ideal for snorkelling andfishing lovers for its deep waters rich in marine fauna and flora, clean and warm, much frequented especially by the locals. The onlyway to get there is either on foot from a path that starts fromMortuia beach and here trekking enthusiasts will be able to have alot of fun, or by sea.

And still arriving at thesmall island of Kasonisi separated from the mainland by a thin stripof sea that can be crossed to reach the islet. Called the Blue Lake of Greece, it has waters of crazy colors that go from turquoise toemerald with an exotic atmosphere where you can indulge in aregenerating bath and admire one of Mother Nature's manymasterpieces.

About four kilometers to thenorth instead, you could take the opportunity to go and visit the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi above Mount Rabaidoni about three hundredmeters above sea level which, in addition to being an importantreligious center, offers breathtaking views of the Cape of Mycale, ofEphesus and from the Turkish coast with the Dilek peninsula which, being very close, almost seems to be able to touch it.

How to get to Mourtia Beach

First of all, it is importantto have a rental vehicle to be independent and better organize theday by combining it with other interesting things to see.

Heading towards the villageof Kamara, you can keep the capital Vathy as a reference point. Justtake the paved road through the Vlamari valley and follow the roadsigns. Once in Kamara, the beach is located just below the villagebut in a few minutes you will arrive at the parking lot where you canleave your car or scooter.

A nice itinerary to visit andput among the things to see in Samos, it would be a great shame tomiss it!
