The beautiful Lagonisi Beach, we find it in the north-east in the second phalanx called Sithonia in the multifaceted Chalkidiki Peninsula.
Exactly between Ormos Pangias three kilometers away on the road to Vourvourou in the region of Agios Nikolaos, the great Lagonisi Gulf with its beautiful bay offers this little jewel immersed in a fragrant Mediterranean scrub that extends to the seafront.
An expansive coastline with a curved shape of soft, light-colored sand, crystalline and extremely clear waters, a blue and turquoise sea with a slowly descending seabed and for this reason very suitable for families with children and for lovers of long swims. Given its position facing the Diaporos Island , one kilometer from the coast it is always sheltered from the wind, thus giving days of pure relaxation. Also in the inlet is Kalogria another uninhabited islet that protects the coasts of Lagonisi from the waves of the Siggitokos Gulf thus creating this amazing lagoon.
The once wild and free beach was almost entirely organized in 2015. A bar that has taken up a large part of the coast, offers sun loungers and deck chairs for around € 10 per person per day. If you do not want to spend anything instead just move to the right of the beach bar where you can put your towel and your equipment while still paying an entrance of 5 €. As for something to drink and a light and quick meal, no problem, if instead you want to sit down and have a normal lunch, there are no typical taverns or restaurants, you must necessarily move a few kilometers to Ormos Panagias where you can choose where to put legs under the table and delight you with excellent fresh fish or delicacies of Greek cuisine. It should also be noted that boats for excursions around the peninsula leave from the port of Ormos Panagias, to approach and admire the Sacred area of Mount Athos from the sea.
The blue of the sea combined with the natural green of the woods surrounding the area giving this part of the Halkidiki peninsula a perfect and postcard atmosphere. For snorkelers, the Lagonisi beach offers coves and ravines to be explored so don’t forget a mask, fin, snorkel and an underwater camera to take your holiday photo. For walkers, on the other hand, there are many paths to do in the pine forest of the mountain to see the beauties of the Sithonia side.
The Lagonisi lagoon has several small bays but a feature that distinguishes it is a small rocky island near the shore with a sand bank on the right side where behind there are small spaces where you can take refuge for complete privacy, obviously as always who comes first stay!
During the summer, the Lagonissi beach fills up beyond belief especially with families with children so if you think you will find silence and maybe take a nap or read the book that you have never been able to start, forget it, here screams of children happy running left and right as if there was no tomorrow.
Local rumors say that if you see a red sunrise from the lagoon, rain will surely come.
There are two possibilities. The first with your own vehicle that can be a car (which we always recommend so you can visit most of the three fingers of the Chalkidiki Peninsula and why not also the north which is beautiful full of history and beautiful mountain villages) or a scooter . Follow the main road towards Vorvourou with signs for Ormos Panagia until you find a sign that says Lagonisi, turn left, continue for about a kilometer and you are there.
Unfortunately, if you are not autonomous, it is not possible to reach the beach of Lagonisi there is no public transport that goes up to here.
The second option is by sea, from Ouranoupoli and Ormos Panagias every day there are organized full-day excursions that will take you as well as to Lagonissi in other wonderful coves.
A “must to do” during your holiday in Greece and to be marked among the first places of the things to see in the Halkidiki Peninsula.
