Koukounaries beach together with Lalaria beach, are considered the most beautiful beaches in Skiathos. We find it in the south part about ten kilometers from the capital Skiathos Town.

Also called Golden Beach because of its very fine and bright sand under the warm rays of the sun, it is a long coast of about a kilometer, bathed by a clear and crystalline emerald sea, with backdrops that descend slowly, therefore suitable for families with children and for those who love to take long walks on the bathroom dries.

Behind it, a fantastic pine forest accessible via paths that start from the middle of the beach or from the parking lot, and the Strofylia lagoon, a protected reserve that hosts numerous species of plants and animals that has allowed the development of ecotourism very present on the island thanks also to funding from the Municipality of Skiathos and the European Community.

Although it is a very popular beach, its natural aspect always manages to keep it almost intact, although honestly some time ago it was much more wild, but as you know, progress in addition to comfort has the downside. Koukounaries beach is equipped with many services, such as water sports centers where you can have fun with your friends or your children and three excellent taverns directly on the sea where you can taste the typical dishes of Greek cuisine under the shade of the ancient pine trees. For one part it is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas while another portion is completely free where you can shelter yourself under the pines. On the left side a small beach called Maratha also with fine sand and crystal clear sea.

Is very simple, you can do it either by your own vehicle or by the bus that leaves from Skiathos Town. Various routes are provided, with bus number 26 you can reach it directly, while with number 23 that stops a little earlier, you can reach the beach by walking through the cool pine forest.

We advise you to reach the area at sunset a sublime moment to enjoy this little piece of paradise and maybe treat yourself to an aperitif contemplating the sea and the extraordinary landscape around you.
