Kos Town is the island capital and is located to the north. From the airport it takes about 30 minutes by taxi and believe me here you will find everything that will make your holidays in Greece unforgettable.

Just below Mount Dikeo, the highest peak (846 meters) is where most of the island's inhabitants live. Practically an open air museum where the historical heritage of the finds and ruins from the Byzantine era to the Roman era are present in every corner.

In 1933 the whole island was destroyed by a violent earthquake but the Italians during the occupation in the second world war rebuilt everything, in fact wandering around the capital many buildings and culture places were rebuilt in the Italic style.

At the Kos center we find the ancient agora, dating back to 366 BC, once surrounded by temples such as that of the Goddess Aphrodite. Obviously, to this day almost nothing remains of this architectural splendor except for the remains of the walls and the eight columns of the market that surround the square forming part of the ancient stoa' a colonnaded portico 150 meters long.

From here it is considered the capital navel , alleys that fit almost like a labyrinth crammed with local craft shops, shopping stores, places to stop for a drink and typical restaurants.

In the area on the sea, not necessarily having to go a long way, you can visit the Hippocrate plane tree, the Roman House, the Roman Amphitheater and the St. John Knights Castle.

The waterfront with a beautiful bike path that stretches for almost 20 kilometers, is full of entertainment venues such as the famous Bar Street where most of the nightlife meets fish taverns. Nothing could be more relaxing than an aperitif in one of the many bars overlooking the harbor and offering a fantastic setting at sunset.

Kos Town both west and east, offers a coastline full of beaches. The western part right in the city boasts numerous sandy beach establishments mainly equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars and typical taverns. In the east part instead, the beaches are of small pebbles but with an incredibly clear and crystalline sea. Here too, some beaches are equipped and, in recent years, some very nice beach bars have been created where beach parties and full moon parties with music until late at night are organized in the late afternoon.

Kos Town is certainly a valid alternative to a day at the beach where you certainly won't have the danger of getting bored.
