Kolitsani beach, we find it in the northern part on the west side of the picturesque and lively Ios Island just one kilometer from the port of the capital Chora and right in the middle between the capital and the noble Mylopotas Beach.

A wonderful natural inlet with a small coastline of soft golden sand, clean and clear waters, a sea with various shades of emerald color and gently sloping seabed perfect for lovers of long and regenerating swims. All around high cliffs covered with wonderful wild flowers, wild herbs and low Mediterranean scrub bushes. A spectacular and gigantic rock that extends towards the sea, divides the coast in two, giving a larger part of soft gravel, while the smaller area has large stones.

In the bay that welcomes the Kolitsani beach, it will not be difficult to see yachts and boats moored because its favorable position protects it from the winds, so much so that it is a very popular destination especially on days when Aeolus is particularly active.

Obviously being in the middle of nowhere, Kolitsani beach has no kind of comfort, no sunbeds, umbrellas or kiosks where to find something to eat so 'if you decide to spend a whole day there, remember to bring everything you need to drink and something to appease hunger.

Given its remote location, it is much sought after especially by lovers of naturism who here away from prying eyes can enjoy a day in complete freedom and in close contact with Mother Nature.

All despite the proximity to the inhabited center of the Chora, it is still in its remote state, an intact landscape that has no intention of letting itself be modified by the human hand. You will not find anything, just a large private villa, for the rest only Nature which in the various seasons shows its incredible beauty.

Just after the promontory on the right about three kilometers away you can find the Valmas beach also a beautiful cove with a rugged landscape with lots of rocks, not really suitable for swimming but certainly perfect for snorkeling where enthusiasts can have fun exploring the fauna. and fish flora. So don't forget fins, mask, snorkel and an underwater camera to immortalize the friendly inhabitants of the abyss. If you want, you can also reach Valmas beach with a pleasant walk of about a quarter of an hour from the Chora.

Kolitsani beach is not particularly crowded, in the high season in the months of July and August for sure more 'people embark on the adventure to get there so' if you want a moment of privacy and relaxation, we advise you to go there early in the morning or in the late afternoon.

If you are super sporty, you can rent a kayak and paddle until you reach the beach, passing through visible corners that can only be visited in this way.

A second alternative is on foot with a walk of about twenty minutes from the Chora through a fairly steep staircase to a path that flanks the hill among a barren landscape but with a typically Greek atmosphere. Being completely under the sun, bring water to hydrate yourself, a hat to shelter you and put on lots of sunscreen.

For the lazy ones, on the other hand, there is always a car rather than a scooter, following the spartan road signs until you reach an open space where you can leave your vehicle and then walk down.
