Glystra Beach Rhodes

The relaxing and fantastic Glystra Beach, we find it in the south-east part of the Rhodes Island near the Kiotari village, a seaside resort sought after especially by those who want a holiday away from the noise and the crowd and even further down you meet Prassonissi where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Aegean Sea by magic. Picturesque Lindos is about ten kilometers to the north while the capital Rhodos Town is fifty-five.

A beautiful cove that, given its position, shelters it from the winds that caress the Greek Islands, with a coastline more than two hundred meters long and thirty-five wide facing east made of soft clear gravel mixed with some pebbles, clean and crystalline waters, a sea blue and turquoise with sandy bottoms that gently descend, perfect for families with children and for those who love to indulge in long swims. The surrounding landscape is idyllic, gentle dunes that change shape with the breeze, lush vegetation with trees where you can find refreshment such as cedars and hollies and rocky hills dotted with Mediterranean scrub, almost a small Eden.

The Glystra beach is well organized with sunbeds, umbrellas for around € 8 per day, and a small kiosk where you can find something quick to eat and drink. A part of the beach, on the other hand, is completely free so ‘you can choose the place that inspires you most’, spread out your towel and spend one of the most beautiful days of your holiday in Rhodes based on total relaxation with a natural and almost uncontaminated environment.

For sports lovers, Glystra beach offers some opportunities such as fun pedal boats, kayaks to explore the bay or enjoy disciplines such as surfing or kite surfing. An alternative is also a nice walk into the bush to get in touch with nature.

Glystra beach also, given that in some points it is covered with rocks, is very interesting for snorkelers as it offers a marine biodiversity that includes bivalve molluscs, chlorophytes, foephite and gorgonian meadows. Don’t forget fins, mask, snorkel and an underwater camera to have a souvenir of your exploration.

It should be emphasized that the coastal ecological status of this area is of great importance as it is located within a protected area of the coastal zone “Kokkoumia” of the Residential Control Zone of the Lardos area for which there are special conditions and building constraints and for this reason it has managed to preserve its naturalness.

How to get to Glystra Beach

There are several ways to reach Glystra beach, the most convenient one is by renting a vehicle. Given the size of the Rhodes island, we recommend renting a car so you can travel over long distances (keep in mind that it has 220 kilometers of coastline) and visit it far and wide. Then head southeast passing Lindos and between Lardos and Kiotari you will find Glystra where you can leave your car or scooter in a large free car park.

For those who have opted for a holiday in Greece without a rental not to drive, there are daily public bus trips from all the major seaside resorts. The only attention you will need to have will be to consult the timetables in order to better organize your transfers.

Glystra beach is a destination to be included among the things to see in Rhodes, first for its extraordinary beauty, second for spending a wonderful day at sea in total tranquility and recharging your energy. Highly recommended for families, couples and those who want to be excluded from the confusion for at least one day.
