According to Greek mythology, the first inhabitants of the Evia isle were the Titans. The Giants arrived on the Evia island also called Eubea trying to conquer it fighting against the Titans generating a fight so violent that at every encounter an earthquake was generated. Hence the legend that every telluric movement is given by the battles between these two powerful gods
.Another myth associated with the Evia island is that the irascible God Poseidon one day during a battle with the Giants with a blow from his trident separated Evia from Continental Greece.
A third legend tells that on the Evia island the Goddess Hera was born, sister and Zeus wife Goddess of marriage and marital fidelity that was raised by the nymph Makri on Mount Ohi in the south eastern part of the island.
