Kalymnos island, one of the pearls of the Dodecanese Archipelago, the third in order of size, famous all over the world for its sea sponges still a very present activity, which will make you fall in love with its crystal clear blue waters and of the authenticity of the inhabitants who still have a deeply Greek soul within them, where tradition is rooted also in the younger generations and where we think we eat really well and breathe a unique and rare atmosphere.
Kalymnos, however in the last twenty years is not only remembered for its sponges but has become an unmissable destination for lovers of Climbing. It all started back in 1995 when a famous Greek climber Giannis Torelli during his holidays takes some photos of the imposing cliffs that surround the island, thus arousing the interest of an equally well-known Italian mountaineer Andrea di Bari who in 1996 decided to inspect it. He immediately understood the potential of Kalymnos for this sport, returning in fact the following year with some companions to open the first climbing routes.
In a short time, 43 itineraries are opened thus giving way to this activity. The Municipality then begins a collaboration to promote Clumbing and finally in 2000 the first Climing Festival of Kalymnos is organized where 180 climbers arrive from all countries.
Spectacular scenarios open to the eyes of sportsmen with breathtaking views of the rocks vertically overlooking the magical Aegean Sea making the island of Kalymnos become a reference point for lovers of climbing.
