The name already speaks volumes! Cavo Paradiso Beach is according to visitors one of the most beautiful coasts of the island of Kos. We find it in the southern part called Kefalos (which in Greek means brain as the shape of the island resembles a goat and the southern part would be the head), the area where all the most characteristic coves are found and where the sea is usually calm. and crazy colors. It should be noted that in this section of Kos the water is generally slightly chilly compared to the north rather than the center but it is just those three seconds that the body needs to acclimatize then I guarantee you will never want to go out.
The whole adventure (then you will understand why) to get to the beach of Cavo Paradiso will be a pleasant journey, you cross the whole island enjoying almost lunar landscapes, large gorges that cut the earth as Kos is a volcanic island that in the over the centuries it has undergone many changes due to the displacements of the earth’s crust, thus being able to get an idea of what this wonderful piece of land can offer.
The road also gives a clear conception of the morphology of Kos and all its geological eras with the play of colors of the ground that go from the white of the limestone, to the yellow of the clay, to the red of hematite and goethite, to the black of the earth volcanic, a real open-air geology lesson.
Cavo Paradiso beach has a beach of soft sand with some stones that go from golden to white to pink reflections and a turquoise blue sea with clear and crystalline waters. Behind there are high white cliffs that contrast with the surrounding colors. It is equipped with a few sun beds and umbrellas so if you want a day in total relaxation try to arrive as soon as possible to be able to choose the best place, while a large part is free. The end of the beach is much loved by naturists and even if the Greeks despite their immense culture are not so “open” to nudism, you can enjoy the beach in total freedom. A small kiosk made from a banal caravan is like a manna from heaven for something to drink and nibble, otherwise only wild and unspoiled nature.
Sometimes the Aeolus God makes himself felt and honestly it is not so pleasant to be slapped for free by the grains of sand, be careful to check the weather conditions before planning the excursion. But Cavo Paradiso in addition to its natural beauty is also perfect for lovers of views, from the top the view is amazing, the large and mysterious Aegean in front and part of the island all around.
First we classified the visit to the beach of Cavo Paradiso as an adventure and the main reason is precisely the road. Up to Kefalos all smooth seen and considering that one is the main road in Kos and is wide and paved, past the village of Kefalos which is located just above the bay, it starts with narrow and small streets back to the Church of Agios Ioannis where if you want you can leave your vehicle, walk along the dirt road which on one side has an overhang and in about twenty minutes you will get there. The route is all under the scorching sun so remember to bring a hat to shelter, plenty of sunscreen and water to stay well hydrated. The alternative is to get there by the means you have decided for your holiday in Kos. Important note, no renter insures the tires of the vehicles and in the unfortunate case a breakdown happens, the recovery is paid, however many decide for the second option, be aware that you have to go slow and be very careful. Said like this, it would discourage anyone, in reality many do it just have a little care, maybe it will take you ten more minutes’, but once all the efforts and time will be amply repaid.
So wherever you are staying you must necessarily arrive at the extreme tip of the island in the Kefalos area, reach the village which is located in the position above the beautiful gulf and follow the signs for Agios Theologos another wonderful point where you can admire breathtaking sunsets maybe comfortably seated at the only restaurant where, among other things, you can also eat very well. Before Agios Theologos on your right you will find the Church of Agios Ionnis, from there on the left a small dirt road with a tiny sign (a piece of hand painted wood) indicating Cavo Paradiso. Follow the road to the end and you will arrive in Heaven.
A must to include it in the list of things to see in Kos, certainly a bit challenging to reach it but if you don’t go there you will miss one of the wonders that this small island can offer.
