The paradisiacal Araki Beach, we find it in the southern part on the west side of the beautiful Karpahos island. The capital Pigadia is about twenty kilometers away and we can say that it is the nerve center of the island here you will find all the comforts for a perfect holiday in Greece!
A coast to leave you breathless, still remote and not scratched by time but by atmospheric events alone, with small stones and for this reason if you have delicate feet we advise you to put on rock shoes so as to be more stable and move more freely, a sea with clean and transparent waters, waters ranging from blue that turns into bright turquoise to the classic blue that only the Aegean Sea has towards the open sea.
The seabed descends quite quickly so not exactly ideal for families with children but fantastic instead for snorleking lovers as it is mainly rocky where the marine fauna and flora offer unforgettable encounters, so don’t forget a mask, snorkel, fins and a car underwater photography so as to immortalize the inhabitants of the abyss.
It is equipped with a few sunbeds at a cost of about € 8 per day and palm leaf umbrellas, here’s what you should expect from Araki beach, a disarming simplicity we can say but in a natural setting that will leave you breathless with the only sound of the sea. If you decide to dedicate a sunny day to Araki beach, equip yourself with everything you need to eat something and especially liquids because there is no refreshment point for many kilometers. If you can’t get there in time to grab a parasol and you just want to hang out your towel in a free area, remember to bring at least a hat and a good sunscreen because there’s no shade even talking about it.
Given its position, the beach of Araki when the Meltemi decides to be heard on the island of Karpathos can be subject to the phenomenon, so maybe look at the weather conditions before taking the road to reach it.
Although it is still a primitive beach if we can define it that way, it is not that complicated. Keep Pigadia as a reference point and head south on the west side of the island following the signs for Arkasa. At a certain point you will meet a dirt road with the indication for Araki, follow it and after about two hundred meters you will have arrived.
It goes without saying that it can only be reached by your own vehicle (in Karpathos we always recommend a car because it is very subject to the wind) or if you love walking with a walk starting from Araki following the same road you would do with a vehicle.
A nice trip to be included in the list of things to see in Karpathos, for a day of total relaxation with an environment that you will hardly be able to forget as the whole island is a real pearl in the middle of the Aegean.
