Milos

What to do and see in Milos

2 minutes to read

The beautiful Milos island, we find it in the Cyclades Islands Archipelago, is the desire of almost all visitors for their holidays in Greece. A peaceful island, where you can rest and rediscover mental and physical well-being despite the fact that in recent years it has become very popular and consequently in super demand.

Its origins are very ancient and according to mythology its name comes from its first inhabitant, the son of a prestigious royal family of Cyprus who, at the insistence of the goddess Venus, moved to Milos to populate the island. According to the etymology, however, Milos would be the evolution of the word Vilos which means sheep, animals present in large quantities on the island as well as other species of sheep and goats.

The island of volcanic origin, has a strong energy like all volcanic islands on the other hand and its particular conformation makes it unique among all the Greek Islands. Its beaches are famous all over the world for their iridescent colours, talc-white coasts that change to dark nuances and then become red and yellow with rocks shaped by the wind, transparent and crystalline waters with a sparkling sea and changing colours, and still towards Achivadolimni and on the Paleochori beach you can immerse yourself in therapeutic hot waters, a free thermal bath and in the middle of the sea.

An island that is not exactly "comfortable" if we can define it that way, let's say that above all the beaches are not all equipped with soft sunbeds, many are still in their wild and original state and in our opinion also for this reason they are something out of the ordinary. The northern and southern parts have a good road to reach the various destinations, while towards the east and west they prefer dirt roads so think carefully about which vehicle to rent to explore the area.

But like all the Greek Islands, Milos is not only the sea, there are its villages to see all with their own charm, archaeological sites that will catapult you back in time, trips out of town such as the beautiful Kimolos island, the mines present everywhere and consequence of a generous activity of the volcanic subsoil, in short, we can say that all tastes will be amply satisfied with the addition of a wonderful landscape, real and helpful people and lots and lots of relaxation.
