Pollonia Village Milos

2 minutes to read

Pollonia, also called Apollonia, is a typical fishing village in the north east tip of the wonderful Milos Island. In the winter period about three hundred people live there while in the summer it is sometimes populated even by the most unlikely of tourists but do not be afraid, being Pollonia slightly more expensive than other areas it has a natural selection of the type of tourist.

Second largest port on the Milos island, it owes its name to the Apollo Temple which in ancient times stood where there is the Pelekoudas Lighthouse to the left of the country today. The port is very small, large ships do not dock here but only the fishing boats of local fishermen and the boat the so-called Pantofola that leads to another pearl of the Aegean Sea, the tiny Kimolos and if you want, you can also embark your vehicle to explore it independently.

Pollonia is about ten kilometers from Adamas in the north east and about fifteen kilometers from Plaka the capital of the island. Surrounded by a large bay, it offers visitors a large sandy beach surrounded by tamarisk trees that offer a little shade and refreshment in the summer season and a sea with clear, crystalline waters and many shades of blue (it will be a struggle to pass your holidays in Greece here given what awaits you). Pollonia is the Queen of Milos, with a classic flavor typical of the Cyclades Islands where all the houses are of an almost blinding white, where the church that seems almost fake is not missing and is the backdrop to this natural postcard, where restaurants and fish taverns directly on the sea they offer an excellent fresh catch and where in the evening you can admire a sunset that will make you forget everything and make you thank you for being there at that time.

On the left side of Pollonia there is a small peninsula with the Chapel of Agios Nikolaos where there is a rock that according to legend to the couples who sit on it promises an eternal union.
