Monastiria Beach and Soufi Beach Kimolos

2 minutes to read

Monastiria beach and Soufi beach, we find them in the north west of the Kimolos island and are considered among the most difficult beaches to reach.

Perhaps for this reason they are still intact and extremely wild as few have the courage or the constancy to get there.

Let's start with Monastiria beach. Enclosed in a small bay surrounded by rock formations dotted here and there with Mediterranean scrub, it has a small coastline of sand mixed with pebbles, washed by an extremely clean and crystalline sea with a perfect backdrop for snorkelers where a lively flora and fauna fish are the masters. Obviously it is not equipped, here everything is in the wild there is nothing not even a tree to shelter during the hottest hours. On the left after the promontory, another beautiful cove embraced by small white cliffs where you can enjoy privacy in total relaxation. Don't forget, mask, fins and an underwater camera to immortalize the underwater world.

Just before or after it depends on which one you decide to do first we meet Soufi beach, about a quarter of an hour from the beach of Monastiria. A small beach also made of sand and small pebbles especially towards the shore with blue and transparent waters and a seabed to be explored. Here some tamarisk trees modeled by the wind, give shelter to the most fearless who decide to go as far as this still uncontaminated stretch of coast that Mother Nature has decided to give us. Also in this case no services, only you and silence so remember to bring everything you need to stay there, from water, food and a good sunscreen.

How to reach Monastiria Beach and Soufi Beach

Here comes the beauty... If you want to reach them by land, you need either a 4x4 or a quad bike as the road is all dirt and downhill. North-west direction, pass the wind turbine where the path is overhanging the sea (thrilling), until you get to the real descent which we still recommend on foot as it is very narrow and dangerous. To say that the view from the top is beautiful, you can admire the whole bay and the area in its total beauty.

An alternative if you like walking is on foot. From the port it takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes, but in this way you can enjoy the enchantment of nature and savor the hinterland of the island.

Last and perhaps most comfortable from our point of view, by sea. You can either rent a baot taxi, or a gulet, there are some boats that organize days to discover hidden shores so your only thought will be to enjoy the sea and cool off in the Aegean waters.

Whether to visit them or not depends on your spirit of adventure and what kind of beaches you like, if you are looking for moments of peace with only the sound of the sea and a pure landscape and as in the origins then you will have to necessarily put them in the itinerary of things to see in Kimolos, we are sure it will be a moment of ecstasy for both the body and the mind.
