Mavrospilia Beach Kimolos

2 minutes to read

The scenic Mavrospilia beach, we find it on the southwest coast of Kimolos island, in the beautiful bay that also includes Ellinika beach and Dekas beach. We are about six kilometers from the Psathi Port.

A long coastline of golden sand mixed with a few pebbles for half while the other part large stones smoothed by atmospheric events, bathed by transparent turquoise blue waters and a seabed in the sandy area that drops not immediately, perfect for those who love to relax by swimming. Behind tamarisk trees, a godsend during the hottest hours. A section of the beach has beautiful stacks of pale rock a few meters from the shore that as if by magic sprout from the sea, creating an almost lunar and mystical landscape.

It is not equipped at all, on the contrary it is really wild and as generated at the origin of the times, ideal for those who want to stay in close contact with Mother Nature and benefit from so much beauty. As always, as there are no services, we recommend that you bring everything you need, from water to food to something to shelter you from the sun's rays if your intention is to spend the whole day there.

Especially the part of the beach with the sand during the high season can 'be a little more' crowded than the rest of the beach as it is also easier for swimming.

Mavrospilia beach, however, is highly sought after and appreciated especially at sunset when plays of light give life to wonderful sunsets not to be missed.

From here it is possible to reach the fascinating ruins of Ellinika, the submerged city after the great earthquake that divided the island of Kimolos from the island of Milos.

How to get to Mavrospilia Beach

Several opportunities to reach the beach of Mavrospilia, the first with your own rental vehicle that is car or scooter is fine. You have to head southwest and following the road signs you will arrive at your destination. With the public service, from Chorio or Psathi there are buses that arrive up to a certain point, then you have to continue on foot for about twenty minutes and as usual we advise you to consult the timetables. And again with a rented boat so that you can also visit other coasts, or with a taxi boat. Last chance, for lovers of walking, is a walk of about an hour through the hinterland of Kimolos starting from Psathi. And last but not least, for the more accustomed to trekking, an internal path that reaches Skiadi and then reaches Chorio.

Another itinerary to be included among the things to see in Kimolos for the joy of discovering this small but extraordinary island.
