Rema Beach Karas Beach and Goupa Beach Kimolos

2 minutes to read

And here we are at Rema beach, Goupa beach and Karas beach, three particular areas of the Kimolos island about a couple of kilometers from the port of Psathi.

Let's start with the Rema beach, the first to be found along the coast. less than a kilometer from the port. A patch of coastline of coarse stones bathed by waters of an incredible transparent color and turquoise blue color. Protected from the winds, it is perfect for a refreshing dip and why not if you don't mind lying on the stones, spread out your towel and stay there all day in peace. Behind some tamarisk trees for the sunniest and hottest hours. More than a beach it looks like a natural swimming pool and has a particular rock that the wind and the waves have sculpted giving it the shape of an elephant (Rema beach is also known as Elephant beach). Needless to say, it is not equipped so 'bring everything you need.

We then arrive at Goupa beach which is also not really a beach. Goupa is actually an ancient fishing village with the typical "Syrmata" properly remodeled for the boats carved into the rock with wooden doors of a thousand colors (even on the Milos island there is a beautiful place that still retains many) from classic houses that characterize the immaculate white Cyclades Islands and that give a typically Greek and seafaring landscape. Here too there are only white stones with a screaming sea, clear, clean and where you can enjoy a refreshing bath.

We end with Karas beach, the most east of the bay. A very particular corner of Kimolos as there is no sandy coast or small stones but rather white cliffs (just to give you an idea, it reminds you of the rocks of Sarakiniko beach on the island of Milos) with only large stones where you can indulge maybe a dip from the highest rock at two and a half meters. The sea is spectacular, crystal clear and transparent waters from emerald green to turquoise with immediately deep seabeds. In this regard, it is a perfect area for lovers of snorkeling and diving with lots of colorful fish. So remember to bring flippers, a mask and an underwater camera to immortalize the encounters with the marine world!

Let's say that Karas beach, if we can define it in this way, is not exactly comfortable for a whole day, there is no shade, only large stones to spread out the towel so quite uncomfortable, but excellent for a visit and a refreshing bath in the water. truly to leave you speechless.

Around it, houses with a classic Cycladic style that seem to slide almost into the sea that give that atmosphere typical of the Greek landscape that we all have in our imagination. Given its favorable position it is difficult to be disturbed by the wind and no waves are generated.

How to get to Rema, Karas and Goupa

Let's say that the best solutions are either with your own vehicle regardless of whether it is a scooter or a car, from the port of Psathi head north-east, or if you like to walk there are only two kilometers of walk, among other things, very pleasant and in less do not say you will have reached your goal. If you are lazy instead with a taxi time to get on and you will have already got off and honestly I do not know how much it is worth ...

Definitely to be put among the things to see in Kimolos, even if you are on an excursion for the day given the reduced distances from the port of arrival.
